Is yours that burgundy one? It looks lovely!

You can take a spur socket from another socket providing the first is not a spur itself.

how will I know if a set of wheels are 11spd compatible - its a set of Mavic Aksiums I got on a bike last year, the bike is 10spd 105, will there be a part number of measurement I can take to find out once I take the cassette off?

Annoyingly no, there's no sockets on opposite walls. Curiously every socket is sunk into an outside facing wall. The hallway is completely bereft of sockets except for a pair in the cupboard that used to house a hot water tank, and (@nev) even running a spur from there wouldn't be too much help as the cabeling would need to trace around at least one door.
However the main enters the flat via another cupboard in hallway so I'd hope it wouldn't be too onerous to put one on the outside of that cupboard.
To add to the awkwardness every wall is made of real stuff, not that plasterboard nonsence, so I'd assume adding new cabeling is a significantly bigger job than when dealing with partition walls.

Measure the size of the spacer behind the cassette? IIRC If it's 2.8mm or so it's an 11 speedy jobby.

All Mavic 9/10speed shimano are 11speed compatible: http://velonews.competitor.com/2014/07/bikes-and-tech/technical-faq/technical-faq-1011-speed-compatibility_337803

nice, will both measure and rejoice.
makes me feel a little less miffed about missing out on Flos yesterday, got a 90mm rear in the basket but by the time I got to them (6.02) there were no non ceramic 90s front left.
Hopefully they do another order before I start racing at the end of may!

Has anybody used an Ortlieb saddle bag in medium? are they and good? Do they stay out the way when riding? Anything else to consider at this kind of price (£28)?

Only used the old XL one, but it was impressively stable and I'd expect that to be just as good.

Used one on the tandem. They're pretty small but @tricitybendix always managed to cram an impressive amount of stuff in there. I didn't notice it between my legs at all. Impossible to colour match with the panniers, which saddened me.

any pictures of it on a bike to get a better idea of size? Alternatively what did you manage to jam in?

rain jacket, sunglasses, nuts, more I think. More than I thought it could take.
^ that's at maximum unfurledness -

Is that the medium size? It looks plenty big enough for my purposes. I hadn't noticed the black wasn't pannier black until you had mentioned it though.

They are good, but have two problems -
If you install the saddle clip backwards, the bag will clip on...but won't come off without much swearing / fury / rage
If you overload it the clip will 'unwind', opening the bag and it then may deposit all your gear on the floor
Don't ask me why I know these things.

I've just gone and grabbed it and it might actually be a small :/
(and have now just realised you can change measurement units on the ortlieb website so apologies for measuring in inches, was just following their lead)

what you need is someone very close behind you, maybe even on the same bike, to keep an eye on things ;)

Will Shimano shifters play with SRAM mechs? And if yes, anyone got any 10 speed Shimano STis going cheap (hidden cable) 105 or ultegra would be perfect.
Just fitted HY rd on boardman and the fucking 1st gen apex levers are still pulling to the bar.
(Already with compressionless)
