Anyone know how much it would cost getting a frame adapted for disc? Loaded braking on canti/V's is disconcerting at times when you forget to scrub off moisture.

Bob Jackson charge £75 for a brace and mount at the back then there's paint and possibly delivery on top. Buy a new disc fork and that's another £70 or more depending on what you want...

Just replacing the front fork is easy as pie, but non driveside triangle need to be strengthened as andy said.
Budget wise, disc front, v-brake year is usually enough.

Thorn disc fork from sjs cycles or surly disc trucker.

What sort of height, rake and clearance are you after?
-
• #8883
Second on Thorn, especially with the option of having a longer rake for front load.
-
• #8884
Also vote for thorn, however the surly has more eyelets

Crap...forgot to mention. It's 26"....
As for geometries, enough for a 2.1" Tyre and if my math is right, which it probably isn't, somewhere in the 50's for rake no?
Asking for too much?On another note, I'll probably be abandoning panniers for bikepacking, but the front rack stays.

Not sure about the rake/front loadedness but this is a nice 26 fork with disc mount and canti bosses, might be of use?

I know this isn't really the right thread, but as it's my favourite i thought i'd post this here;
Does anyone have any examples of a late 80's / early 90's steel bike using modern components?
I've got a nice old SLX frame that I'm thinking of modernising, and wanted to see some examples of it done tastefully.
Ta!

there are loads around.
I like to think that my modernised rossin is tasteful:) -

A perfect candidate for 650b conversion .. since its the functional thread

thanks all. that's reassuring.
I've got a Straggler with nice big tyres so I think i'll leave this with the 700c/25's they've currently got.

Here is my functional bike !

That's deffo a Current Project. At least until you get better lighting and mudguards. Lovely frame :)
-
• #8898
Plus valvecaps... suggests it hasn't done much functioning.
-
• #8899
Well, lights are not that bad, and i'll tinker these mudguards to ameliorate them !

'Functional'? Psh.
This is functional.
Never rode disc so wouldn't know.
But the picture looks soooo functional :)
