Build the surly hubs to archetypes and you'll have a moderately hipster wheelset.
get someone different to build them this time then.

Why not go with a 29er rim if not using rim brakes, I got a WTB i-19 off CRC for £25. Wider than an Archetype, half the price, only about 420 grams so a fair bit lighter too.
