Passed this today at about 8.30am, fixed gear/single speed bike at side of roar looking quite bent with the saddle lying beside it. Broken glass still covering the road. Didn't look good but hopefully therider will be ok.

North bound carriage way still closed off with ploice tape, lots of police around. Doesn't look good.

  • Passed the same about half an hour ago.

No sign of rider, fingers crossed they got away OK.

  • Just passed this. Looks like a mini was involved. Have heard that his injuries are 'life threatening'. Really hope he pulls through - what a terrible month it's been so far.

  • Another rider down on Old Kent Road too, twitter reporting bus and cyclist incident with road closed at Bricklayers roundabout

  • Hi this is my brother, on Tower Bridge. He is ok apart from two broken ribs and cuts bruises

  • Glad he is ok, my colleague passed this and said it looked nasty. Hope he heals up soon.

  • @highroad Great news that the injuries appear not too serious. Tell your brother we wish him a quick heal up.

  • Thanks he is a tough nut skateboarder so he is used to bumps and scrapes, still wont wear a helmet though which would of helped

  • Ha! I dislocated my elbow a fortnight ago, it crumpled like a concertina, landing funny while falling off a skateboard... I'm being soppy cos of all my drugs and operation I had last week.

Well if he won't wear a helmet, encourage him to get some free cycle training (from his borough) to help manage conflict in future. It's a really good course (called The National Standard), only takes a couple of sessions and literally every cyclist can learn something from it. Srsly.

  • Heal well and fast, rider!

  • good to hear you brother's ok @highroad, wish him a speedy recovery

  • @highroad

glad to hear it is not as bad as initially suggested, hope he heals up fast

  • Hope he has no lasting damage and is back riding/skating soon.

  • Sure he will be as he commutes to work on bicycle. Im guessing he will want a new bike by the sounds of it his got mangled

  • Glad this is all OK, pass on all of our best wishes for a quick heal.

  • have done @Ramsaye thankyou!

  • @highroad What Ramaye said.

In the past week or so I have noticed Minis driving in a most disagreeable manner.

  • Hey @highroad
Just heard from your sister about this… Sounds like he's doing ok. Fingers crossed.

  • Glad he's OK, highroad. The initial report said that he was found lying on the bridge by police at 4am--is that time correct?

  • I knew something like this had happened riding to work this morning....it had the slow eerie vibe.
It brings out the worst from frustrated road users- everyone pulling surprise manoeuvres.

    #sketchy

@highroad Glad your bro is well. I know it's a bit early but do yo think at some point much further down the line, could you or your brother could update us with what caused the accident?

  • I dont know the ins and outs of what happened so Im gonna be biased and say that it was the minis fault. They are ugly and too big. I used to own a real mini, it would never of happened with one of them :)

  • Passed by at 8:30 ish.
The Mini and the bike were both stationary in the yellow diamond grid in the middle of the big junction of roads and traffic lights at the north end of the bridge.
Passenger side of Mini windscreen smashed and a pile of glass over the road and some distance away but still in the yellow grid was a wrecked bike.

Someone was where they should not have been.

  • Glad to hear he's on the mend. Crossed the bridge when the lane was shut and was very worried about seeing something nasty.

    Love from a sk8r/skidder
