  • it's perfect if you live in holborn and work on the embankment

  • as long as it's the right place on the embankment

  • [Edit] lol shit quote function

  • and you live close to holborn tube

  • Typical cyclISIS comment.

Steve McNamara was right - You'll be beheading the journalists that wrote the article next.

  • Dicki nailed it. Holborn to Aldwych! You'd spend more time getting down and up than actually riding.

Although you'd be safe from bus roofs.

    This is key...

  • so...

prefer to cycle in the fucking sunlight

    me too

    no GPS,

    doesn't matter

    cold in winter,

    so is outside

    possible safety issues

    possibly

FWIW I'd most likely not use it. But there may be a group of people that don't what to cycle on the roads due to perception of danger, lack of confidence, don't want to cycle in their work suit/have to change their clothes at work etc etc, who might really welcome it. They could just jump off the northern at embankment and pootle the mile or so up to holbourn on a hire bike.

It might not suit rad fixi skidderz pulling 30 miles a day but others who'd not otherwise ride on the streets may get an easy introduction to how much better it can be to ride.

  • We could still mix it with the big boys, flowing like a river, at one with the traffic, epically battling the elements while the dam nodders could be down in the pits of earth, dry and happy.

  • For less than a third of a mile.

  • But there may be a group of people that don't what to cycle on the roads due to perception of danger, lack of confidence

Surely it's better to work at improving this, and it is possible, than turning London into Fraggle Rock

  • so maybe the cost/benefit calc would look a bit weird...

  • i think the money would be better spent on devising a fleet of dirigibles that could carry cyclists over the same distance. TfL could brand the dirigibles and possibly recoup some of the development costs. it would also make cycling more attractive to steam punks, who are as it happens, a shower of complete cunts.

  • you need a job with a design firm

  • Too hot, no light, no air movement like post 7/7. If you put fans lights and cooling in then they'd have to charge a fee to use it, a bit like a tube train. 700x20C riding on an escalator might be an issue. I'm in, nothing is insurmountable.

  • Also, reengineering the tunnels for bike routes would make them unavailable for any future tube lines or diversionary routes.

  • And don't forget it's a very useful line for the film industry.

  • Once the poor schmucks have paid for a Boris bike and a cover charge for escalators/security/lighting it would probably cost as much as a tube journey.

  • ^ Totally in...

  • Not sure using old tube line would prevent cycling topside?

If well lit could be fun! Perfect for muggers at least..

  • Cycling campaigners are far worse than people who burn prisoners alive.

  • Bet he is uber pissed.

  • The irony of the death threats he has allegedly received tickles me.
