  • really upsetting hearing this, especially when its such an experienced cyclist. condolences to his family. such awful news.

  • Who is raising the funds? I'd like to contribute but want to make sure every penny goes to his family.

  • I understand that it's a London Dynamo member that has set it up, but it's been mentioned officially by LD that they would be setting up a fund to help his family, who they have been in contact with (through a friend) https://www.facebook.com/LondonDynamo?fref=nf

  • Thank you for that.

  • cheers. donation made.

  • Sorry for your loss Crop :( Hopefully his family will find some small comfort in knowing the cycling community cares and is appalled by his death.

  • Rest In Peace Akis.

Knowing a name does make a difference and should make us all work harder to prevent it happening again - known or unknown.

  • Just found out now- Akis has been a client, friend and fellow rider for a few years now. I am absolutely heart broken. I was very lucky to know him and work with him on his cycling position and on his increasingly large collection of bikes.

He was a lovely gentle guy, generous with his time and attention. I asked him a few months ago if I could use his pictures from my "house of inflexible riders" gallery because his change in position is one of the most amazing I had ever seen- he just loved his riding- really fell for all aspects of it and worked damn hard to become a better rider- losing weight, training like a maniac and racing as much as he could.

I sent him a text yesterday to ask him for a his contact at Mosquito, not knowing. If anyone knows the mechanic there, please let them know, too. I know they will be gutted too.

I will miss Akis so badly, I feel lucky to have known him and to have worked with him. I hope his family can/do see this forum, I'd like them to know how loved he was here in London.

  • We at London Dynamo have 'opened'a Condolence section on our website where liked minded people can leave a message plus a link to our fund raiser for Akis' family. Please click on http://www.londondynamo.co.uk

  • thx, will do.

  • I met Akis through music. He was an excellent sound engineer and knowing he was on the desk was always reassuring. I had hoped I'd get to see him from a stage again sometime soon. The sudden realisation of who this has happened to makes it all the more painful.

Sending much love and gratitude to you, Akis.
