  • The quotes in the original story are from one of the Portugal's in the white person's deli, I totally believe them... Nice folks in there tho' everything is way overpriced and can be had for less a bit further down the road in the other Portuguese deli... Most people are put off going in there tho', might have something to do with the blokes drinking Super Bock over the counter at 9am, lel...

    Samphire... Thread ends...

  • bows

  • Good post, although there are, of course, a lot more correctives needed than rent control (which I agree would be an excellent measure). London is essentially at the apex of global injustice, along with two or three other cities, and that dragon is not so easily slain.

  • I eat LOTS of their eggs, about 12-15 a week.

The XL ones are fantastic, super-fresh and about the size of easter eggs. And reasonable price.

  • It's all about 'estate strategy' now. NR are looking to improve the performance of their estate to make up for the deficit in funding that's caused it to get into this state. as usual, the common man is the one to pay for it all...

  • Max's in the arches is the place to be.

  • So you're fine.

    ;)

  • Not for much longer it won't be... /cue Madeiran riots/

  • tw4t. :)

funny enough, i know someone doing the rights of light for nr on all of their arches.

  • "So my damp, dusty, loud, shaky, hovel no longer receives that 3 hours of day light I'm accustomed to as a Brit. Gimme millions!"

  • "argh, developers building new buildings - they will destroy our three hours of light!!!"

    then:

    "here, have a cheque..."

    "ooh, okay - thanks..."

  • If you haven't already signed the petition to try and save the businesses in the arches, you can do so here...

    Over 15k signatures so far...

  • Nice one TS. Will share on twitter and FB later.

  • Had a meeting with Network Rail this morning. A much different atmosphere than the first encounter.

Lots of talk of ‘misunderstandings’ & ‘ never wishing to give the impression that…’

After an outpouring of honest and frank expression on our part and a pledge to convey it undiluted to HQ, the effect of ALL our combined indignation has caused a very early shift in their position.

Nothing in writing but a willingness to start a process to resolve the situation in tandem with tenants. That’ll do for now

^ This from @greenhell's fave website, BrixtonBuzz yesterday...

  • Could do dvd box sets.

  • When are leaving drinks? I think we should be told.
