  • Nonsense.

There isn't anything under a year old with the same milliage as mine for under £2k on auto trader at the moment.

Even if you extended the age part, the closest you get is a 2012 model with 2.2k miles at £1,999 and that hasn't had a givi plate installed (~£150).

    It's a great deal...

  • Can I just remind everyone to be vigilant. On Friday I had my bike stolen from outside my house whilst I was in my living room, 3 metres away from it. It was on the side stand with the steering lock on.

I went out at about 11pm to cover it and lock it and it was gone. I have it back now with only steering lock, top yoke and lock cylinder damaged. I've learnt my lesson! Don't let it happen to you! Always have at least a disc lock on it when parked.

  • Holy shit @snoops! What happened? How did you get it back?

  • Oi pm me and I can give you a few sites to advertise the bike on. January can be a hard month to shift bikes but at that price it should go.

  • Cheers but it sold for asking price this morning. Just waiting for the bank transfer...

  • @otters Two people on a scooter snapped the steering lock. Then one got on the bike to steer it and the other rode the scooter with one of his feet on the rear pillion peg to push it. At least that's what all the evidence points towards.

They found the bike parked up very neatly outside the entrance to the block of flats opposite the pub at the junction of green lanes and church st. There was no damage to the bike other than the steering lock and top yoke and I'm certain they never started it.

They only found the bike on a routine tour of the area. A car checked it out as it was an unusual bike to see parked in that spot.

Then they took me to the bike and I pushed it home (less than a mile).

I think the thieves had been scoping the bike for a while as my bike cover was removed one morning, which I presumed was the wind but thinking about it it couldn't blow it off once clipped on; then my bike cover was stolen; and looking at my disc lock I can see someone has tried to smash it at some point as there is a tiny crack in the casing. So the one time I leave it unlocked for a few hours it's nabbed.

Anyway, I have it back! Lock your bikes!! If you have a desirable bike and you park it in the same spot all the time it's probably being watched.

  • Fuckers!"

  • I had my bike parked on the street until one morning when the cover had been taken off it.
Now its on my tiny drive wedged behind a wall - no cover as that sets the nudge alarm off.
    People are watching!

  • I keep mine in my garage, but even then it is chained to a ground anchor through the frame and has a disc lock on each wheel, alarmed and immobilised. The garage door has two locks on it too...

  • I'm gonna get an Almax chain and an alarmed disc lock as soon as I get paid this month, I've really lost my motorbike mojo since mine got pinched in August. On the plus side I got a call from the cops today saying they had someone in custody with my sat nav which I'd left in the topbox. I hope the cunt does time.

  • Can lend people an almax chain, till they are sorted.

  • Almax is the fucking shit.

  • Glad you for the bike back @snoops sounds like you got pretty lucky!

I keep my back wheel chained to lamp post below my bedroom window, and currently an on guard brute (16mm) on the front which goes through both fork legs and the wheel, above the brake caliper... Thought that was a good trick. The chain I'm using isn't the best, will sort something beefier eventually, but with the bike not being worth that much not sure anyone would go to the effort.

  • Does anyone here have advise on an alarm system? A separate GPS tracker is OK with me. Looking for something that works without a motor management system. I would also like a nice alarm system that is activated when someone sits on it (I hate people who do that). Everything around it is custom build. I got enough room to hide it.

  • Not worth the trouble. They flatten the battery, go off for no reason and are easily defeated. I removed mine because the only person it stopped riding the bike was me.

  • Alarmed disc lock as an alternative?

Has anyone had experience with Railsavers?http://www.railsavers.com/page.aspx?pid=4

After doing the sums it's cheaper than riding down to Italy (fuel, BnB, food, tolls, square tyre etc) and it'll allow more time to declutter the bike and rag it through the mountains.

  • anyone in the market for a cheap one piece leather? im trying to get rid of mine that i got 2nd hand for a trackday, now that i sold my bike i have no use for it...

  • New pipes for the bike arrived today:

Should be able to fit it before work tomorrow.

  • Those pipes look ace.

Can anyone recommend a quality open-face-with-visor helmet? Something like a Caberg Riviera or Shark SK. There's so much on the market; I need a recommendation.

  • Those pipes look ace.

Cheers. The only took 5 minutes to fit and sound so much nicer. Much throaty, very vroom. wow.

  • Not the most stylish but top quality, very comfortable and great wind protection. Arai x-tend type. I have a 3 year old one, very quiet, great all round vision, light and good protection. I've got 3 roof lids (roadster & boxer). They are noisy, the lining wears so they get loose and the visor whips air flow into your eyes. They do look good though ! :)

  • I've been riding in a pair of Rokker revolution this winter. Massively expensive, but I managed 30 miles yesterday with a pair of thermals underneath, travelling at reasonable to insane speed.

Anyone who is riding in normal jeans at this time of year will know that it's pretty much impossible without freezing.

I'm really liking them, they are a little dated in styling cues but they are more practical than leathers for round town.

  • I wear jeans and HTFU
