For filter? Only at the office or when travelling. Office: old dualit grinder, normal kettle, thermometer, v60. Travel: aeropress and hario grinder

I have followed @Colm89 good advice and did the essential upgrades to my 'new' Gaggia Baby Dose.
I have now fitted:
- A brass group head plate (circa 200g with 6 holes) to replace the original aluminium one (circa 75g with 4 holes). Apparently this helps the stabilising the temperature and distribution the water more evenly in the basket. (c. £15)
- An IMS competition shower screen. Apparently this also helps the water distribution through the basket. (c. £15)
- The Rancilio steam wand conversion - this works a treat and it was super easy to do. I can now froth like a boss. (c. £10)
- A Brita / Gaggia 'in tank' water filter, I already use Brita filtered water so this will help spacing descaling sessions. (c. £12)
I have also purchased:
- a 58mm Reg Barber 'convex' tamper; and
- Colm89's Sage Coffee electric grinder which works really well.
I now have all the tools to make a great coffee so please pop in if you are around Brixton!

But speaking on f'book a friend was saying how their local coffee shop wouldn't make a coffee in said cup for "health and safety reasons", anyone know why they wouldn't use a reusable cup like the above? Friend did say they would make it in one of their own cups then pour it into his, which seems to be missing the point...
oh also I'm going to be in new york next weekend, midtown manhattan, any coffee spots I should hit up, and or decent bean suppliers who I can grab a couple of packs from?

They're a bit pointless as they offer no insulation at all, and they aren't properly sealed.
I bought a pair for me and the missus a while ago, thinking it would be a good idea, but if I make her coffee for the train, it's cold by the time she's on it (we only live 100m from the station too).
Then you have this coffee cup which still has coffee dregs in, which you can either put in a bag and let the remainder of the cold coffee piss all over the contents of your bag, or you can carry it around like a lemon until you can wash/rinse/throw away in disgust.There were some other alternatives which @big_daddy_wayne pointed me at - made from double layered toughened glass, which actually keeps the coffee warm.

This is my main issue with the keep cup. I like the idea but wtf do I do with it once I've drunk my coffee? Mine is now a cup that I just use in work instead of a mug.

@dan, understand your misgivings about the value of the cup, but did your local coffee shop refuse to make a coffee in it, citing "health and safety reasons"? and if so what were they?
I'm looking to find out if it was bullshit or just someone not being arsed, or if there is a practical reason behind not making a coffee in a reusable cup, so if confronted I can have a reasoned response.

Yes, use the same grind at home for both. Juat adjust depedning on the bean I'm using.

Home set up is Gaggia MDF grinder with (in order of most use) Hario v60 Drip Decanter (Hario filters), Cafetiere (only for cold brew to take into work) Aeropress and Stovetop.

to be honest i just began to dislike drinking coffee in the car / bus / train anyway.
just get up a few minutes earlier, enjoy great, hot coffee out of a proper cup at home, then leave? -

Haven't really posted much in this thread before but i've had a good read this evening. I'm currently in the process of opening my own shop, whilst also working at Kofra in Norwich, brewing a range of filters and espresso from Caffenation in Antwerp. Seem's theres a nice broad range of coffee heads here.
Out of interest, what's everyones preferred home set up for (filter) coffee? I'm currently using a Clever (seems very little mention of them here!?), Filtropa papers, kettle and thermometer (I'm too skint for a nice temperature control one a home) and a Rhino hand grinder (or usually just the EK43 from work).
