in the standard. whatever you do, don't watch the video.

• #33
RIP rider. Thoughts with those who knew and loved you.

What's so upsetting about video? It's only a reporter shivering in the cold talking to passerbys. You work for the Standard?
-
• #35
Awful :(

because it lacks any balance whatsoever. where's the same reporter shivering in the cold interviewing HGV drivers? yeah, i work for the standard, can't you tell?

Horrible. RIP Akis. Really sorry to hear this @Crop
I was actually off the bike yesterday so walked past the scene on the way back from work yesterday evening. It wasn't clear what had happened and I'm glad I didn't rubberneck now.
Being literally down the road from my house and a fellow 34 year old FGSS rider this one resonates even more than most.

As a member of London Dynamo I can state we are desperately trying to gain confirmation of the riders name and have been in contact with the Met Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Once there is a factual release of information we will endeavour to produce a 'public' statement. Until that time I can only offer my thoughts, empathy and best wishes to the family and friends of a fellow rider.

Can't believe both the Standard and Hackney Gazette are allowing comments on their reports. I've just complained about a vile bit of victim blaming from 'Shana Glover' on the Gazette. Hopefully it will be taken down.

i've commented on the ES article about this. somewhat telling that the article about the motorcyclist mentioned above has no comments section.

The police won't be releasing that for another day or two. I was able to convirm it via his and his girlfriends Facebook page.

ES comments section removed.

Best to ignore them. Their second post was "Has it ever occured to you that busy urban streets are not meant for cyclists?"

It is with great sadness and grief that I announce we have had official confirmation that Akis Kollaros was invlolved in a fatal collison with a lorry late yesterday afternoon in Homerton, London.
I find it hard to type these words, especially as I was riding with him just a week or so ago. The death on the road of a fellow LD, and this maybe the first in such a way, is a hard, hard pill to swallow. I offer my sincerest wishes to Akis' family, friends and fellow riders.
Please post/record your thoughts, great memories, condolences, best wishes or whatever you deem 'right' here to mourn the loss of a fellow rider.
This is indeed another hard day not just for London Dynamo but for all London Cyclists.
Just found out that this was a friend of mine by the name of Akis that rode with London Dynamo.
Is yet to yet to sink in.
