I was actually thinking more about why bother with the shoe in the first place? I have seen a few amputees have cleats screwed or molded to a specific prosthetic. Is it personal choice or the rules of certain categories perhaps?
Only rules I could find re shoes (all be it a very brief search) stated that hand cyclists had to wear shoes. Guessing its personal preference then.
