    Pretty meaningless metric, look at the whole team (GB or Aus) and you'll see pretty large variations in hand hold width, presumably each one optimised for the particular rider.

  • I've often wondered this, pursuit riders generally seem to have their arms quite a bit wider than msot people on the road. Is it a stability/handling thing?

  • I would expect a world class TP rider to be able follow the black line wherever he put his hands, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that the best position for a particular individual might change when you put him in a line with 3 other riders.

    Also, a pursuit is a very short race, so it might pay to prioritise power over aeros - I know in the olden days when Doctor Hutch used to win every national title from 10m to 12h, he said he lowered the bars for the 12 and accepted the power loss in exchange for better aeros, since dropping 10% of his 12h power was much less of a loss than dropping 10% of his 10m power, or words to that effect.
