  • Ooo didn't realise their was a roadie douchie thread. I'll be racing pretty much all year starting with the Bristol south road race, weekly crits in Bath and Castle Combe plus the odd cotswald summer series in support of peeps that have a little more free ime than I.

I'm also going to pull the trigger on a crit bike mid season, probably another Canyon but probably the AL SLX. I'm not concerned about weight but it'll need to be /stiff/.

  • Gotta love it when this happens in one of your early races

  • Yanto Barker is there isn't he? Along with quite a lot of cash backing from what I read in Cycling Weekly.

  • Yeah, that's just the guys who have entered the Capernwray RR I will be doing. They have Barker, Mould, Opie and Bialoblocki as well. Hope none of them EOL or sign on in the meantime!

  • Nice chatting to you @golgol in the bunch today and funny being side by side going into the final lap!

I'm confident I was 4th today with you ahead of me, was on your wheel out of the bends but apparently I was 3rd(?). Sure I'll see you in Cat 3 soon!

    No sign of @amey today?

  • Nice work. Any idea what your ave pace was today please?

I've only raced at Hillingdon once and don't think it was very quick as there was a howling wind.

  • 24mph avg, felt slow at times but there was a strong wind going around the top of the circuit that really slowed it down.

  • I'm sure 4th Cat gets quicker every year as racing gets more popular.

I've never got the legs to sprint at the finish - that's if I'm still in the bunch.

  • I'm racing the BSCC road race too. Did my first crit at Odd Down yesterday, were you there?

  • Ilton race(s) on 14th March. Any of you South-Westerners going to be there?

  • Not sure where I finished - it must have been either 4th or 5th if you were 3rd.

Either way - I think its enough to get my Cat 3 so I'll be joining the big boys next week. Are you racing again on Saturday?

  • Yes, was too busy looking over my shoulder to make sure the bunch wasn't there, just getting those needed points.
I'm 50/50 on next week, other half has been neglected 3 weeks on the bounce now but what's one more week eh and I've already paid!

  • Rest of my team have entered the Chorley GP. Course will be absolutely brutal, 5x up Sheephouses from the sounds of it.

Unfortunately it's looking like i'll be in a cabin in the Norwegian wilderness, instead of blowing on the first lap.

    Edit- Link to course etc

  • Didnt get a place :(

on waiting list for the rest (can gladly take your place if you are not going @iPete)

    Great work @golgol !

  • I was on the waiting list also but just turned up, you are more than likely to get a place, especially if you are only a few down the order.

I think I'll be doing the E123, I just learnt that E stands for Elite.

  • Oh shit! Didnt know this .. so do you just pay cash there? I'll turn up this Saturday then .. ride there isnt exactly pleasant so hopefully will get a place.

  • Put yourself on the list, I went from 10th on Wed to 2nd Saturday morning, turned up & paid cash. They don't oversubscribe the race so if you look friendly enough they'll let you on.

  • On list for all remaining races :)

  • Don't think there are any Elites or 1st Cats racing. My mate who was leading the series going into the weekend is a Cat 2.

  • Got through waiting list for Sat 31st so see you there!
Also signed up for all 4 Dulwich Paragon Winter Series races at Velo Park.
Who is riding from central London?

  • @dan, are you roadie douchebagging it this year or riding track or both?

It's been ages since I raced road and I was rubbish but I'm a little bit tempted to give it another go. So different to track, where it's hard to do well but the races are so short you'll never get dropped.

  • @owlz Me? Pretty much track this year, with shorter TT's (10's mainly) too, as usual. More sprint stuff on the track this year - have been making some progress in the gym.

Road racing always looks like fun, and I would probably do alright on a flatter circuit (or something with a short, punchy hill) - but racing track on a regular basis and TT's occasionally is already enough of a strain on work and life stuff.

  • Track is just Junior development, non?

  • Tell that to Chris Hoy

  • also - it's perfectly possible to get dropped in the 40 lap race at HHV track league, or to lose several laps in the Roadmans.
