  • Yes I heard :(

Kat Balou had a flight/vein complication in childhood.

  • best solution is simply to amputate it @hippy

get rid of the offending appendage

  • I have a number of offensive appendages.. maybe I should have a clearance sale?

Actually looking at the bruising, the leg might just fall off given enough time.

  • Wasn't in childhood, was just over 10 years ago. Stupidly fell asleep all the way home from New York on an Air India flight. Managed to get my self to a doctor quick enough, had swollen calves/feet and bruises going all the way up my left leg. Now have some rather sticky out varicose type veins in my left calf. Docs now say it is cosmetic and I'd have to go private. Arseholes.

Anyway, well done Hippy. Also well done for the extensive beer list you had over there.

  • @hippy When did you start getting hassle with the leg? How soon after the race did you fly? What do you recon, the race or the flight set it off? Hope it clears fast.

  • Just like Bartosz Huzarski!

  • I've had to put hippy's DVT thread on ignore because it makes me feel ill. Sorry, hippy. Vom, though. God.

  • Definitely the flight. That's why I was suspicious of it - it started after the flight, after most of my normal post-race damage had gone away. We were in the US for a week before flying back and my calves were fine after the race.

  • I'll PM you the best pics ;)

  • @hippy Dont know who you flew with, but I was pretty happy with Air NZ, £540 rtn. I'm 6'1" and had OK legroom in economy. Will use them again next year. Was in aisle seat both times, both times sat next to a couple of non-bladder-synchronised bladder-challenged travellers, so I was up out of the seat quite a lot! Probably just what you needed :-)

  • Now have some rather sticky out varicose type veins in my left calf. Docs now say it is cosmetic and I'd have to go private. Arseholes.

I have the same (although back of knee not calf). They've ruptured once and the (NHS) doc said "If it does it again come back and we'll see about getting it fixed."

  • The flight was fine but I took sleeping pills so I could get back into London time quicker. They worked better than expected. Cue DVT. :(

  • WC Jersey looks good on ya gaffer

  • Tres bon!

  • I know it's taken a month but if anyone gives a shit, here's my write-up of the race...

  • .

  • ^^ What he said ... nice one!

  • The idea of you stopping in the middle of a TT, to inhale and egg & bacon bagel is totes LOL.

  • That's very, very impressive. Hope the DVT goes away soon.

  • Very impressive, did you see Meurig after?

  • It's certainly not my normal routine but I wanted something other than bars, gels and energy drink and that's what gf came up with. I'd have preferred something less smaller and less fatty during a race but beggars can't be choosers. It didn't seem to harm me that much, unless of course it was the reason behind my 'lap of doom'.. hmm..

  • I didn't have a chance to chat. I think I 'saw' him at the finish but it'd been a few years so I wasn't sure it was him and then everyone was packing up and off..

  • :-)

  • History is confirmed - congratulations #hippy
