Yeah found a cheap sram rival left arm i could get but adds £20 to what was supposed to be a cheap build...
Will see what happense? -
• #99228
TBH they should have made it really clear if they were selling just the single arm.
PP will come down on your side without a doubt but hopefully it won't come to that. It's a PITA.

What a douche.
If he was legit, it would have read SRAM Omnium Silver Crank DS Only

Yeah thats the thing. it's just not very clear. ill give him the benefit of the doubt and give it a few days but if not yeah.

set eBay feedback to kill.
In other news, I assembled these. I am by no means a wheelbuilding expert, and was pleasantly surprised by how easily it all went together. Which probably means I have made some stupid mistake. Let me know if you spot it.

assuming the valve hole is in the same place relative to the rim stickers, you probably have...
-
• #99233
Actually no - the front is just upside down and back to front lent against the wall. No valve holes were misplaced in this build.
You can even see the logo through them...although it's the Pro-AM engraving rather than Goldtec. Ahem. That's a feature, not a mistake.

That's what I fucked up in my first wheel build. Forgot about the rotation/tensioning that moved the position of the hub logo relative to the valve hole. I'll try and remember that next time...
I found it really easy and satisfying as well. I had them in the LBS the other day for a chat and the mechanic there was seemingly amazed that I'd built my own wheels from a book I read and that they were correctly tensioned and tried. Wasn't that hard, really.

Does anyone have any experience with the 11 speed shimano group brake calipers? The 5800 ones particularly are meant to accommodate larger tyres, but does anyone know if this is because of a longer drop or whether they've actually raised the 'bridge' bit. I'd really like to run 25c on my Argos but the smallest bit of road muck and they start to foul. I had mistakenly though 23mm rims would make the tyre run lower but it has had the opposite effect.
I know GP4000s size up large, are Pavé a bit more true to size?
-
• #99236
On standard rims my 24c Pavés are 25mm wide. They now come in 25c, which presumably would be a tad wider.

I was really careful to make sure the logo was aligned...I just didn't spot that the hubs have two laser etched super subtle logos opposite each other, so I just didn't get to chose which showed up through the valve hole, and it ended up being the model of the hub rather than the brand. Galic shrug.

Wanted a quicker way to get to work, and sort of missed riding fixed. In came a Track Champ and some bits I had lying around.
Just need to de-sticker the front wheel and a 16t sprocket.

Bianchi in winter mode:
Have had it like this for a while, works really well, can handle most winter roads short, perhaps, of straight wet black ice. -

You've got the spokes facing the wrong way on the front. On a front disc wheel the spokes that increase in tension when the brake is applied should all be spoke heads out (ie both DS & NDS). You've got them heads in, on the NDS at least.
Your build method will increase the tension of each of these spokes more when the brake is applied, therefore leading to a slightly higher chance of failure. The rear is correct however, accepting valve hole placement!
