Plus I'd treat it like I did the Worlds and it becomes a nice holiday. #novegasnoproblem

• #8178
Yeah Good idea. I was thinking the same, but might need to sleep for a few days after riding 10straight out!!

I wanna buy some go faster shit.. what should I buy? Wheels, bars, hydration setups? Argh, I hate winter.
-
• #8181
Buy a car.
-
• #8182
I have a car.
-
• #8183
Ooh what about a new skinsuit or maybe I could get my Assos suit modded with nopinz.. hmm..
-
• #8184
Invest some time in some position testing, or pay Xavier to do it for you. Assos suit can't be nopinned because of the pockets.
-
• #8185
What? NOOOO! I need my pockets. Doh!
-
• #8186
Buy a faster car
-
• #8187
Buy a fatter car
Cheeky.

@xavierdisley How much faster can you make me? Which rear wheel should I buy? Should I move to BTA hydration? Are ENVE 8.9s really faster than a disc? Will the Zipp disc be better for me than a rear 808FC? Should I get a D2Z skinsuit? Are those TriRig aerobars faster than my Spesh ones? Stupid choice with no bloody data to back it up other than marketing "ours is fastest" bollocks

I would love a faster car and a fatter car (thanks @andyp) but the panel beating it has received at the hands of my other half has put that idea right out of my head. A new stereo would be nice though.

• #8190
First he needs to make you a new helmet.
-
• #8191
Well, I'm sold!
-
• #8192
I'd have thought that you're looking at really slim marginal gains with any further equipment purchases, but there's probably huge potential to reduce your CdA with position tweaking.
-
• #8193
Perhaps, but position isn't something I'm too happy to mess with and tunnel time = £££. Plus, position can be worked on alongside kit improvements. I wanna buy kit now to test it before trying to shape this Adonis of a body for the race season..
-
• #8194
weren't leg trips the new holy grail (cheap, light, faster)..?
-
• #8195
No perhaps, definitely. What if you knew that dropping your CdA from 0.2x to 0.2y would net you a guaranteed 20 miles in a 24 at no cost to your power output? Appreciate that for you comfort is much more of a factor than for someone like me, but you've got 6 months to adapt to any positional changes.
-
• #8196
So 2014, all about the body trips for this season
-
• #8198
It's hard enough to dress for TTs without gluing shit to myself. I'll stick with faster wheels.

What if I've already tested it? At the moment I'm at the limit of where I can bend down to. I actually went wider on the bars so I could get my head lower. I don't know what else to change (though I've been thinking about crank q-factor but this impacts power and can mess with knees) and I don't have time to test random body positions to see if they give better results. I need some aerodude to tell me and get instant yes/no verification, ie, wind tunnel time.
That's why kit is much easier - so long as it's actually faster. Which is why I'd love more data on it but no fucker will cough up the dosh to do an independent test of 10 disc wheels on my Shiv.

You already have one of the fastest wheels out there, and leg trips give a proven CdA reduction.
Getting lower isn't necessarily faster, look at TarmacExpert and Tops' positions on the bike. They don't look anything like someone like Bottrill, but they are very slippery.
Aerocoach gives you real-time analysis and Xavier is your aerodude. Much better to spend your money on that than a new disc wheel.
Atleast you're going all that way for a decent length rate. Makes the trip worth it!
