I like the 996, but as investment at £25k to sit in the garage I don't see it. The 911 market is already artificially high with investors who want the cars that exist to be polished, the 996 will always top out below the aircooled cars in that regard and then there's the potential for engine problems (or at least the market's concern about the potential). At £12k it'd make a decent bet though.
@TRA The sensible choices for sure, but I'd go for that DB7 as the dark horse with massive potential.

On the investment front. What about a 968 CS? Particularly in that French blue colour - future classic?

Definitely, but I'd reckon 20 years before they become really desirable. And they're best in speed yellow with cup 1s.

Maybe this would compliment the Orange Estate then?

Forgot I had even posted in this thread. Thanks for all the advice.
My brother in law (well not quite yet..) has offered me his BMW 318 for little-to-nothing as he's already bought something else and doesn't want to deal with tyre-kickers.
Has reasonably high mileage but quite tempted to take him up on it as it will save me ££££, it's in good nick, taxed for the next year and just been MOT'd. -

Green glass milgauss is probably the only Rolex that I would actually own.

Taxed for the year no longer exists...
In fact, taxed for the [insert any amount of time here] no longer exists.

I bought a 964RS for £25k once. Not even that long ago. <10 years. I probably shouldn't have sold it. :(
996 etc At £12k it'd make a decent bet though.
I agree actually, £25k is too much though, I'd spend more like £15-£17k.
968 CS
When you could buy a 911? Nah. Except colourful wheels and a roll cage they're meh.

A 318 would be a good shout anyway and if it's cheap with a fresh ticket then you can't really lose, mileage is of little concern if the car has been well looked after. Tax is no longer transferable to a new owner.

Cheers. All seems in order, watch this space for "my gearbox just fell out on the m1 FML" type-posts in the coming year...

Having only driven a 996, I can't compare, but @Hefty speaks the truth about the 996. Just don't get a tip!
