That's the key thing... they've seen that OEMs aren't packaging and pushing the updates and so Google are focusing their dev effort on the future stuff wherein Android gets smaller and smaller as more of the core functionality gets delivered as apps which can be auto-updated by Google way into the future.
Which is good... but also shite, as not all of the updates are great.
Yeah, saw that article. As one commenter says, even if they did push out an update, most people wouldn't get it as the OEMs probably wouldn't bother.
