Wind from everywhere today. Made for some fun swerving maneuvering.
And then there was that older lady in a car, turning into the street I was riding on, looking in the wrong direction. I slowed down waiting for her to spot me so I could safely pass. When she finally turned her head in the direction the traffic (and I) was coming from and spotted me, she let go of the wheel with both hands raising them to her face in horror, doing a slightly ill-timed Munch impression.
I laughed and rode past. -

Before I left this morning to go out and do battle with the wind, I thought I'd skip out on the overshoes and gortex outer because it wasn't raining at the time and "it will probably be fine tonight".
LOL

During a conversation with colleagues about tomorrow's bus strike, it dawned on me that I don't actually know how to get from home to work on public transport because I've only ever come by bike.
I've worked here for three years.

Ohh... it's just coming up to my one year anniversary of commuting to work solely via biek. Twelve miles a day, five days a week and I've just had my first ever experience of being run over properly.
I had just peeled off Elephant&Castle, southbound on to Highgate St and a 4x4 coming the opposite way turned straight across me on to Rodney St. I only had a second to react, unfortunately not enough time to flick right around the oncoming vehicle, I knew shit was about to hit the fan though so I turned into Rodney St with the oncoming 4x4 but alas we collided.
It was a fucking horrible sound as I hit the passenger side door, I smashed the floor and picked myself up as quickly as possible. We both stopped in the road, the driver was on her own, I saw the look on her face through the window and she was absolutely mortified. Weirdly I felt no anger or shock, I still don't, she wound down the window and she was crying. I asked her if she was ok but I didn't get much of an answer. I said "pull over ahead", she did, I asked again and she said she was ok, I put my hand through the window and we held each others hand for a while and chatted, I said I was ok and told her to go home. Handlebar/frontwheel situation was LOL, saddle angle was fucked, bar tape is shredded, so is my left arm, R.I.P merino base layer.. I spent a while on the side of the road putting the bike back together. I'm at home now getting my shit together. It doesn't matter how many lights you have on the front of your whip, sometimes people just don't see you, shit happens, could have been worse. Stay safe y'all. xxx

Hope you got details and all that, I respect the chill attitude but make sure her insurance pays for all the damage. Glad you're OK.

Very narrowly avoided becoming a pâté this morning as a lorry edged out from a side street without seeing me.
Still a lovely ride in re bus lane to myself.

Hurricane Level storm kept me up all night.
Rode the few km to work through the remainants of it.
Gale force Winds driving hale into my face as I try to stay upright on random patches of ice, slush, and frozen piles of hale.

On my commute home on Friday, trackstanding in the outside lane waiting to turn right into a side street.
Sudden strong gust blows me a metre right into the oncoming traffic.
Shat bricks.
Got deservedly honked.
Reversed in time and stood my feet down like I should have done to begin with.
