Of all the various counterfeit components available, the one cradling my gooch is the last I would entertain.
Added to which, if they are as good as reports suggest then Selle SMP are due their return, as opposed to some Far Eastern sweatshop proprietor.
Typing this wearing two sweatshirts, a scarf, hat and fingerless gloves (because for the third year running, it's "heating or eating"), I share your skint; however, if all that happens when people innovate is that it gets ripped-off, then...

Fair points, things to think about definitely. Hadn't really thought about it like that. Surely the non carbon versions would be sturdier? I see the TRK but it just looks too big (clunky)

• #204
Look at the Extra, the TRK is basically a town bike saddle, the Extra is a narrower one that's more suitable for road bike abet lots of padding.

I will do just that, thanks.

The leather models can be had used on Evilbay from £55-£80 (depending on the particular stellar constellation visible on the day).
I got a red used pro for £66 to replace my TRK. Very happy.

I finally reduced my shoulder ache by lowering my saddle. However instead I got some lower back pain, could this be because the saddle is level? Should I try running the nose down slightly?
-
• #209
you could try stretching and/or working on your core muscles
worked for me
-
• #210
How much did you lower it? as lowering it enough can alter the reach a bit.
-
• #211
Put your saddle back up. Then shorten your reach to the hoods/bars (a shorter or higher stem or both) so you can roll your shoulder back to where it doesn't end up hurting.

Cheers gents only went down 5mm. I am putting it back up. Setback seems fine doing the balance thing.
-
• #213
5mm of saddle height is quite a lot!
-
• #214
Blast I thought it was just a little. Its going up anyway. Cheers.
-
• #215
5mm is a massive jump, it's usually best to do it in small amount, half a millimetre every now and then is a good way of fine tuning it.
miro's right, push it back and get a stem 10mm shorter.

cheers will do so.
I think I will have a chat with a few people re a bike fit
-
• #217
The gist is this; sort out your saddle position first, this can make a big difference to how the rest of the bike feel.
If it's too high, you may feel your hamstring muscle getting pulled slightly, too low and you'll feel your quadriceps muscle stressed at the slightest effort.
Once you sort out the saddle position, you then can move onto the stem length, too long and you'll find you're straining your neck trying to keep your head up, too short and you may find it feel cramped.
This is a pretty simplified way of finding a good fit, but it help narrow down whether your bike is the correct size for you or not, if you wish you can invest in a bike fit to fine-tune it more.

Not sure if srs. Half a mm? Really?!

• #220
Yeah, especially on the fake carbon SMP, I raise it very slightly every couple of day until it feel spot on.
the SMP Composit is less noticeable because of the flex in the middle.

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-HOT-New-Carmmel-mtb-saddle-bicycle-soft-seat-for-cycling-racing-road-mountain-bike-parts/32258757363.htmlSecond one looks more promising than getting a carbon one, am i wrong?
-
• #222
No point as the real thing isn't even that expensive.
-
• #223
I edited just before you replied, what do you think to the second link?
-
• #224
Looks promising. Liking the Castelli esque logo

Mainly thinking of a little bit of padding as i think going straight to carbon just won't be nice, i could be completely wrong however
Very tempted to get one of these, they look promising to replace my Rolls. Only thing is i can't afford one of the real ones, and i ain't the thinnest/lightest out there. I have doubts about the carbon versions but I'm struggling to find the other Chinese copies on ebay?
