  • Blimey. Google maps 4 miles is strava 5 miles, point to point all into headwind. I arrived as the callup hooter went, so time only to stash jacket layer in bag and single knot my spikes, arrived at the start as the gun went.

Any plan of a fresh run was gone and this was now the 2nd and muddy half of a long training run for today, with diminishing splits of 16, 17, 18min over the 3 x 3.2km laps I was near the back but didn't mind.

Grateful of a lift home from clubmate instead of bus/tram ordeal.

Despite running there in 4 layers plus hat I hadn't really broken sweat cos of the windchill, so ran the xc in tech tee under merino ls under club vest plus hat and felt a bit cold throughout. Afterwards it hailed/snowed on us as we ate cake.

Fuck knows what its like up on the spine race but looks like the 2 guys I know are in a pack of 10, safety in numbers out there a sensible choice I bet.

  • decent length for a x country that. ours came in at under 5 miles yesterday, a disappointment after a shortened kent champs last week as well. Not ideal prep for the southerns or National.

Had a decent race to get my best Surrey League position despite a hill out the back nearly destroying me on the final lap.

Gentle 18 this morning. Marathon prep is going well.

I can't find our guy (5,Spenser Lane) on the tracking thing. hopefully just because iam not using the tracker very well.
