  • Rainy*, headwinds and took the lumpy route.
    10/10.

Weather's actually perfect now as a kind-of 'fuck you', love it.

*of the driving, soak you to your core type.

  • Roads were damp at 6:30 but it was not raining so tweed plus fours and a merino sweater + tank top combo were perfect.

Get up earlier you lazy fucks.

  • Cycled in and, despite getting soaked from the waist down, I had an enjoyable ride. Really surprised to see so many other cyclists out in this weather.
I did see a bully-boy in a white van pull out at the New North Road/East Road junction without looking and nearly hit a cyclist. Rather than acknowledge his mistake he started to shout abuse in a threatening way.

  • Oooh, I think I saw this guy on Tuesday. Heading down Farringdon road to Blackfriars bridge at about 5:20pm?

  • I think there are a lot of crazy legged Dave's on Bromptons this one spins along the CS7 between Brixton and Kennington

  • To the guy on a Brompton on CS7 this morning, in today's rain, wearing US-style chequered shorts, riding with lightweight moccasins - you have my unadulterated admiration.

  • I did decide to soft cock it and get the train home tonight but by the time I'd ridden to the station (about ½ mile) I was soaked anyway so just rode home.

BBC weather said 32mph winds, that was fun. Not.

  • Lovely tail wind on the way in this morning, managed a solid 2mph faster than I have been recently!
    9/10
Not looking forward to battling into that headwind with a friday afternoon work bag though.

  • t-shirt weather!

    #notony

  • No milk or bread at home so my commute is currently being interrupted by a cafe fry up.

9/10 tea could do with being a bit stronger.

  • I miss our little trips up to the greasy spoon

  • 9th of Jan and I'm riding without gloves. Weird.

Haven't 'commuted' for a while and my riding was, frankly, atrocious. Apols.

  • First commute on a "proper" bike in about a month. Lovely and warm.

    Endorsements:

    Jippy knee -1
Saw the bloke I always see on a Condor riding like a knob and getting into a fight with a van -0.5
Man in pulled up rugby socks +0.2
Solid performance of drivetrain after some poor maintenance over Christmas +1

Adjusted for inflation that gives: 9.78/10.101

  • Whole world of shit on my commute this morning

    1. Car sat in side road waiting to turn left, just me on the road, plenty of time for them to pull out and get on with their journey. I slow, nothing I get nearer knowing full well that they will pull out just I get near. Lo and behold they pull out.
    2. Women undertakes me while I'm sat at the red light, not sure I'd left them much space. Catch up with her and tell that was a dick move she just keeps look forward decide it's a lost cause. Watch her then trying to size between the bus which is just pulling out and a car only for her to get her stupid arse and panniers suck between the two causing a jam.
    3. Just moving into primary to go through a set of pinch points when the car behind speeds up thinking he can make infront of me only for him to have to slam on the anchors. Which then for the next half mile they drive about half a bike length behind making no attempt to overtake. Asking him what he's playing at get the usual 'should be on the road'.
    4. Pootling down the Walworth rd, Guy in front about a bike length in front of me suddenly stops and turns his bike horizontal across the road, causing the moped and me to slow crash into each other. Guy then just cycles off, moped rider then goes after him and the have a bit of a barny
    5. Bloke on MTB rides into the back of me at speed, "Sorry didn't think you were going to stop' I was poxy stopped along with the car and the bus.
    6. Got the clothing wrong and was far to hot and grumpy.

Rant over, will do again 3/10

  • 5 second wobble over to home office with bacon, sausages, beans and coffee. 10/10

  • Public transport. Bloke further down the carriage was playing CandyCrush on his ipad at full volume all the way from Dalston to Canada Water. No one said a word... all seethed silently and gazed at Metros/smartphones.

Prefer cycling but have a hot date later and didn't want to be lumbered with bike in case of-

  • More CandyCrush?

  • Bitches love Candy Crush...

    I'm obvs assuming you're a hetero male...

  • First commute for about 3 weeks.
    Headwind. Too many layers
    Palms are sweaty
    Knees weak, legs are heavy
    mom's spaghetti

Still great to be riding again and I got to chat with the roadie buddy who I always bump into. 9/10

  • I want a roadie buddy to bump into.

    What tune were you playing?

  • What is the correct thing to do when you find yourself on the far right of an ASL at a red light?

The chap next to me thought the best course of action was to pump as hard as he could for two rotations, cutting across two lanes of bikes at a 45 degree angle so everybody had to stop for him, before returning to (I assume) his cruising pace of veerrrrryyyy slowly mph.

  • Plan ahead to avoid finding yourself there?

  • Keep riding in the right until you can filter back across, or leave everyone else for dead at the lights so you have the road to yourself.
