  • I'm at the end of my tether. Please help.

I got an alert from Google today saying someone tried to access my account and that I should change my password. I did. Then forgot it. Spent ages recovering the account. Got it back, changed the password again. Now Gmail etc is working fine on my Mac, but I cannot sign in to Play Store or Gmail on my Android device. I have tried deleting the account on the device and starting over, I have turned the phone off and on it just keeps saying password and username don't match. I can't find any solutions online.

    Any ideas?

  • I'd suggest you use two-step verification as well if someone's already attempted to access your account.

you need to delete the account and then clear the cache and data on any app that isn't signing in... especially the play store.

It it were me i'd go into recovery and do a complete factory reset to be sure i got everything cleared. Obviously, if you do this you'll lose photos, contacts, games, etc if they aren't backed up somewhere.

you'll also lose any OTA update.

    edit
i see you've solved the problem.
i still recommend a factory reset once in a while. it's like coffee, in the morning, on a Sunday, after a greasy breakfast, after a night of drinking.

You're lucky, most networks block tethering if they can detect it.
