for tubeless tyres I found you have to get the retaining collar on the vale screwed down as much as possible so it pulls the valve down fully. Mine were road tyres so it may act differently but I found most leaking to come from around the valve when trying to pump it up. Once I had used some pliers to really screw that collar down it pumped it really easily.
