A locking blade falls into the same category as a fixed blade - can be carried with a legitimate reason or excuse. These can be occupational or recreational as long as it's lawful.>
Edit - Fuck me microcosm - how do you quote?
But a court will decide if your reason for carrying is lawful, not an arresting officer. So you'll probably just get arrested due to it being good for police figures and knife crime stories in the media. Whether you get off is another matter and would probably be dependent on how much your solicitor charges.

From the research I've done that price point for blue steel #1 knife is crazy, I thought what I paid was reasonable!

Is there the same stigma for posting our own knives in here as there is bikes in the bike porn thread?

Ok, well it may not be considered porn, but I made a friction folder and matching bottle opener for my brother's 30th B'day last year. It was first go at making a knife, so I cheated a bit and started with an old steel file. It needed some annealing to make it drill-able, then I cut the rough shape with a grinder, the first sharpening with a bench grinder, then finished it off with a water stone. Scales are made from an piece of teak decking. Friction action isn't quite as smooth as I'd hoped, but it works. For next time, i'd start with a larger file to get a slightly sturdier blade and better blade / handle proportions. Also I'd get some brass rod rather than steel so that the peening is easier. All-in; happy for a first attempt.

I'd decided on some of these for the kitchen:
https://cuttingedgeknives.co.uk/brands/takeo-murataBut Santa bought me some Globals which was a nice suprise. Really looking forward to having some decent kitchen knives finally but I am a bit worried about Mrs Sacreds casual attitude to blades. She holds avocados in her hand when cutting them etc.

Nice EDC Victorinox from santa...

I like the Murata finish, very reasonably priced for a quality blade too. I would seriously recommend window shopping at the Japanese Knife Company shops though because I was surprised how different each knife felt and looked in the flesh. However their great customer service does not warrant the inflated prices of the blades.
Saying that I'll probably go back to them for a whetstone and the wooden magnetic knife rack was nice and...Ps. I initially cut around the stone of an avocado in my hand too, I just don't wack the stone out with my new knife.

I bought this a while back but it's a bit too heavy really, the girlfriend can't lift it if her back is sore. It sure as fuck doesn't move though!

it shaves arm hair very easily.
Thanks for the research, I ordered one. There is a czech website that has them for around
£68. It's funny that they are offered as beginner knives.
