Would be great if it wasn't out of stock.

I'm considering an Ultegra 11 speed group for £450... never ridden a modern shimano group though... any good for the money vs the Force 22?
-
• #3729
Have a look at the 105 groupset - less than £300.

exactly. Top top lolz.

@edscoble ... true, and it comes in silver... (I'm thinking of modernising an old steel Gazelle and been studying Dammit's Serotta CSI... I like the grey)
nice one @amey - £288 for 105 over the Ultegra at £430?
The other option is to gather older Sram 10 speed stuff but that ends up fairly pricey for used components...
I need to have a think... anyway,
Cheers all!

You're a poor sport

Are you on fucking commission with Quidco?

Cycling is a sport. Buying isn't.

Cycling's a sport. Buying's a job. Trading bike parts at little to no profit? That, my friend, is a calling.

was in stock last month and im sure it will be again soon. Available for similar prices elsewhere , merlin just the cheapest.

Cheers. Interesting the discussion that this has started. I guess merlin and fudges are the way to go. I bought my last sram group from fudges (and remember you and I had a chat about it on here). I loved the group although I didn't get too many miles in before it was stolen, along with the bike. I've used 105 since then which is more than adequate for my needs, although I fancy some more bling, and nice hoods. Also I'm clearly not riding enough: see previous forum discussions about how projects take over when riding wanes...

Well last time I clicked on one of those links via a PC it seemed to divert via a numbered user account first, so I'd assume the answer is yes.

very tempted to use my 25 off 250 voucher to pick up a new 5800 group at merlin.

Apart from "heavy" does anyone know the weight of a Sora 3500 groupset?

Yo quick question.
I'm upgrading the drivetrain on my Cougar and thinking of going full Ultra 6800. However, I've fallen in love with the DA 7703 (time trial) chainrings ever since seeing them on Dick's old Cannondale.
They came in 54/55/56t and I've found a 54 for a reasonable price. However the 6800 front mech says it will only accommodate up to a 53.
Don't know if this is a daft question as on paper it won't work - but will the extra 1 tooth really make the difference between it functioning and not? Or could I get away with it with tinkering?
-
• #3748
These?
6800 should do a 54T - band or braze on though? It's just gonna be height you need to worry about. Single ring setup or using a big inner ring too should be ok, ~10T gap.

Braze on. Normally ride 53/39 so would like to keep the smaller ring at 39 if possible.
Alternatively I could just go full 7700 as it would be period correct, but I'm the only guy on my team running 9 speed still...
No.
