Update:
Cold enough for long sleeve base and t shirt in Herts. Still short shorts weather mind.

Base and t shirt!?
MENTAL!

Run a sub 18 min 5k, a sub 38min 10k and sub 1.30 half - all at the end of triathlons.
Oh and a sub 1.25 half marathon, and 3.20 full.

Run or Ran? As in, is that your target list for 2015, or what you achieved in 2014?
-
• #10231
If you've accomplished that, that's very, very impressive. I can only dream of that fitness!

6 mile fell run today. The first time I've run in aged with lots of bog hopping and high stepping the heather. There is pain.

Sub 1.25 half would set you up for closer to 3 - 3.05 mara surely?

This year I ran a 19.11, 39.39 and 1.36 in triathlons and a 1.27.40 fresh.
No fresh marathon for a couple of years, and I'm not training for one specifically, but will do Brighton for a long training run...

Yeah I ran a sub 1.25 (just) half this year and I'm targeting below 3 for a full. Race predictors all seem to put that in the right ball park too.
In other news I ran a pretty much pain free 6 miler on Christmas eve, which led to me pulling out of Christmas day Parkrun about a kilometre in in quite ferocious pain. Doctors, stretching and rolling are in my foreseeable.

Incidentally, it's quite interesting having a play with race predictors to see objectively what your best result was.
Apparently my 10k was my best significantly and apparently I can chop around 3 minutes off my half time. Also apparently need to run faster over 5k. Or just run a flat one.

My mum just registered for Parkrun - we're doing a family run in the morning! I'm really excited about it, mum's not run in years (ever?) and I'm hoping she likes it and wants to continue. Dad thinks the whole thing is stupid and is staying at home to eat his way through his remaining boxes of mince pies but having 4/5 of the family there should be pretty cool.

Two weeks off due to lurgy, hoping to get out tomorrow for a sneaky 10k if I can.

13 miles off road in deepest darkest Hertfordshire. Very very slowly.

First week of marathon training done. Some very cool and icy runs round the north east.
The nye celebrations are going to prove challenging during training.
I use wava to check what my best time is rather than pace predictors. Anything near 80% is good.

has anyone got any nice 10-15km routes they could share in and around peckham/dulwich/nunhead?
-
• #10243
I used to loop around the common, then up Barry road to Dulwich Park x2 laps then back to the common.
Not very inspiring but it was one of the quietest routes I could find.

I like to do the 3 loops, Nunhead Cemetery, then the Rye, then Dulwich park.

^/^^ thanks guys, was thinking of a combination of those, sounds like a goer.

It was perfectly cold out there today.
Finally found my HRM too so wore some sort of data gathering device- a rarity for me.

lovely lunchtime track session for me overlooking the chilterns/thames on not yet officially opened little marlow track.
8x400m @1min 21secs with 1 minute recovery in between.
heading up to Northumberland this evening for the rest of the week so hopefully get some nice trail running in up there!

Just time for a short run (6k) to check whether lurgy gone. Mostly ok, slightly faster after 2 weeks off despite the cold conditions. Guess it's back to the routine now, especially when I'm back at work next week.

Another very very slow 11 and a half miles in the countryside.
Knee still sore but constant stretching and rolling is definitely having an effect. A week or two off running and a trip to a physio when I'm back in the big bad city should see me right.

I'd welcome some shoe advice - is it worth getting some light, flatish shoes for race day?
I've been running regularly for about 3 years now, 10k being my preferred race distance and almost all on road. I've been using relatively heavy Nike Pegasus (various versions) as I appreciate the cushioning, but this autumn I bought a pair of Hoka One Cliftons and love them. http://www.hokaoneone.eu/on/demandware.store/Sites-HOKA-EU-Site/en/Product-Show?pid=30609031&dwvar_30609031_color=BBLI#cgid=men-road&start=1
They are much lighter than the Nike (~220g) and have a much smaller drop (~5mm) but still have plenty of cushioning and I've since set all my best race times with them.
So the question is, is it worth me seeking out an even lighter/flatter shoe for race day, and if so any recommendations? I'd like to knock just over a minute off my 10k PB in 2015 and will need all the help I can get as I'm now well into to the super vets cat.
Yep, still too warm for long sleeved tops folks.
