Just so I'm not being a total fool - I can buy those pacentis and build into wheels for the giant tcx slr? Was gonna go for the new velocity rims but these would be much cheaper and still light

Yup, just build a CL25 to a dynamo hubs and it's a pretty sturdy looking rims, so far so good.

Slowly moving away from the 8 speed group this Carrera titanium frame came equipped with to a full Record carbon groupset -
Just need the derailleurs really, at the moment that's a Chorus aluminium rear and a 105 5700 front, and hopefully after a bit of a January clear out I'll have space to build up a Record wheelset, at the moment the rear is Centaur and the front a Mavic 571.
Bar angle still to adjust, and steerer either to cut or fork to be swapped for something already a bit shorter.

I was looking at the 771/772, apparently The Cycle Clinic had some, but their eBay listing ran out of stock before I got round to ordering so I got XT M785 (shamefully Wiggle) for about £60.

haven't ridden this in ages, not with the Ti seatpost, Cinelli stem and wider bars at least...

Do any of Spa Cycles's £18 (Rigida, Exal etc...) options compare favourably with £50 Archetypes? Seems a lot for what seems to be an aesthetically-focused product.

I think most of the Spa ones are for touring, so are all >500g (and the rest). Plus, I really don't want machined brake tracks if I don't have to. For a rim brake set I was thinking of LX17 or something, that was until I got this stupid disc idea in my head.
Pacenti CL25 seem to be the way to go, I'm just waiting to hear whether I can get 32/28 hubs or whether I have to get 32/32 from here:
Had to check a few times but if you scroll down it says "in the box: front hub and rear hub."
The seller seemed confused when I asked about 28h, saying that these hubs are for fixed. Road hubs are 24h max. I've asked the same question again to see if it gets a more sensible response.
$84 is currently £54, and the seller will put a fake value on for customs so it could work out cheaper than XT (just a little longer to deliver than Wiggle

Merlin have ZTR Flow 29er rims for about £55 a pair inc postage. 32h and white only, 525g each and wiiide (23 int, 28 ext).

White?! You monster!!
Set on Pacenti. Lighter than archetype but allow for monster tyres and 28c.
-
• #98765
That's such as nice frame that even the pink tyres don't look too bad!
-
• #98766
Thanks for the kind words about Vivalo :)

Cheers, I've had those tyres hanging around 3 years waiting for a frame with a suitably silly paint-job to go with them, actually they match slightly better in real life than is obvious in the photo. Bar tape doesn't show so much but it's Cinelli Kaleidoscope and again, been around for ages. I'm pretty happy to get as much colour on to this thing as possible.

And bars adjusted,
Time to think seriously what to do with that extra long fork.

Right, does anyone have any idea what the difference is between the Novatec 711/722 and 771/772 hubs?
One is supposedly for road and one MTB, but other than the number of pawls 2/4 I can't see a difference, or a reason not to buy the 771/772 which are $20 cheaper on aliexpress.
Anyone? Seriously confused here.

Edit: Right. Apparently it's just an updated model with swappable axles, according to this:

You could sell the fork to me? I could do with forks with extra long 1" steerer.

Haven't posted it on this thread but here we go.
Sorry its an outdated picture and please excuse the saddle angle. My Concorde Colombo delta with red cupido paint. It is armed with:
1) Nitto rb010
2) Sakea Ringo custom quill stem
3) Concor San marco supercosta saddle
4) Campagnolo record hub laced to a mavic open pro CD (FRONT)Temporary seatpost and rear wheel in the picture.
Its now got some sr royal crankset and shimano aero pedals that I've begun to polish and another seat post.
So still need to get back wheel and bottom bracket.
I thought I could get the mavic rim from cyclebascket but have emailed them and they haven't replied. Does anyone have any past experiences with them? -

New bags for summer missions.
Novatec 771/772 can be had for around £60 from aliexpress, the CL25 are £39 a piece for 32h or 29 a piece for 28h. Assuming I could mix it up with the seller on ali express and get a 32/28 combo, then we could be looking at a ~£180 wheelset using DT Competition.
That's not half bad, considering they'd be pretty light as well.
Cheers for that Ed, tempted to buy the Pacenti while they're cheap, even though the rest of the bike is some way off.
