  • the whole nadir-la carrera/futura thing is quite strange
futura was an o.g. new york graffiti artist, who even did an album cover for the clash back in the day, and later worked with james lavelle and dj shadow with their 'unkle' project,

he made the 'pointman' fiqure (i haz one boxed) which was an adaptation from his nosferatu figure (i haz the maharishi one, boxed)

the master roadie Nadir was asking $110k was the prototype for the pistas, he/they "found" 38 in a warehouse, and if truly a "find" would probably been the highest yielding ever-37 pistas x and average $12k, then add the $110k from the master prototype
i am unsure as to wether or not Futura would be classed as and ''urban artist" like Banksy or Space Invader, he was involved with an "urban" clothing range,(futura was a courier also, on pista perhaps given the reference here to "..not brakes")

but his work has never yielded the amounts of others
given the interest in urban art, perhaps it is a little "emperor's new clothes " spin like what shepard fairey and banksy managed with their project "mr brainwash"

  • I don't think that Nadir "found" any of these bikes - it was a collaboration with Colnago as far as I am aware for the re-launch of the Master Pista in 08.
