Got the dates wrong for this, thought it started yesterday. Fuck it, I'm likely to be travelling on the 30th so.. . 140k down, some to go.

Plymouth to Moretonhampstead to Plymouth, 70 miles. 22%.
So great to be riding on Dartmoor dodging horses and sheep instead of the day job of dodging buses, cabs and peds in zone 1. Long live the festive 500.

75km = 15%.
Rode my Salsa Juan Solo, 34x16 single-free, On-One Fleegle Pro wiggly wide bars, 28-622 slicks.
Headwind all the way there, tailwind all the way back. Overgeared for Parbold Hill, undergeared for the way home.
Probably Fondo tomorrow.

Almost got caught out last summer by the highland cattle sitting and shitting all over the roads.
They're like regular cows but give even fewer fucks, have spikes on their heads and are very, very lost.

Good work.

Wow! Well done everyone. There's some good distances and mad fixed endeavours.
I usually try and do it in five rides, two of them fixed, but this year my aim is just to do it. I don't have any time on the 31st and I'll need at least two easy/hangover days in between now and then!

I'm off to Colchester in the morning. I remember someone on here saying they may join me for the end bit. I'll be leaving South London at 6am and getting in somewhere around midday I suppose. Number is 07974 918855 if anyone fancies meeting. This is my route: http://www.strava.com/routes/1254128 No worries if not.

These were my work trousers and belt so no skiddies.
No idea. I've had a shirt go before but it came back a month later. I can only assume someone forgot or soiled their trousers and saw mine as a backup option. Only problem is I ain't sitting around the office in a work shirt, Humvees and Dominators. Fuck that. So I went home.

Nice work Dammit and lovely bike. I've admired it before but never realised it was yours.

I managed a few miles this morning so I'm up to 196 km and 39%.
It's the next few rides that are going to be difficult as I'll likely have hangovers for at least two of them and I'm losing a day (as well as the 31st when I'll be travelling) due to a previous engagement.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Really want to do this, but working all week between Christmas and New Year which is annoying.

So have I for the last few years and manage to do it. You don't need epic rides if you're just trying to crest the 500. Just add a loop to your commute each day.
-
• #895
Thinking of that too, going to try an epic morning ride before the afternoon tomorrow then add it all up until New Year.
-
• #896
I try and do 62km a day at a minimum. Alas today was a shitty 45k so tomorrow I need to put extra effort in

252k done; I finished last year while working with 2 days to spare thanks to socio-religious status. I am on holiday this year could do 750k but meh .. against my training focus for 2015 plus I chose life.

Fondo'd, through the medium of Stravart: a mouse and a wedge of cheese.
http://strava.com/activities/232734123Now 41%.
MTBing tomorrow so probably another 5%, then Saturday will be a washout, leaving me sub-50% after 4 days...

8% - just the usual commute
