  • Asda have Auchentoshan on for £22 at the moment. I'm not normally a fan of Lowland whisky but this is pleasantly surprising.

  • Hot chocolate + scotch = passable Sunday evening.

It's only Bells, but it makes me drunk in an efficient manner.

  • Need to buy a gift for a friends father, anyone had Penderyn? Quite like the idea of getting a local one

  • first bottle of the glenrothes broached - christmas has started

  • I've had a shot of Pendryn. I would't have another.

  • I found it rather metallic. Nice packaging though. I just had the plain one, no special casking or anything. Probably wouldn't buy again.

  • So after a year or so states side I've still yet to rebuild my whiskey collection.
Here's the list of "starting" bottles I'm thinking of buying.

Thoughts ? Anything I really should not bother with, anything I really should get ? Trying to keep it under $70 a bottle but might make a special exception for something good from duty free

  • Buffalo Trace is a bit meh in my opinion..

  • So the trace/four roses are there mainly to stop people drinking the better stuff when they visit. Four Roses is not bad, I've never had the trace .

  • Sorry, just getting back to Islay, you would love the Lagavulin tasting room, got three Whiskys, wing back chairs, log fire in classy drawing room settings, just getting left to it, we only went as we got free ferry passes but the amount of Whisky going is insane, Ardbeg did the best tour, highly recommended if you can get a designated driver or would be easy enough to cycle round the place from a decent central point! Went Kayaking with this chap, cheaper the more folk that go.

  • I quite like buffalo trace, just not neat. Good for an old fashioned or a sour.

Woodford reserve is a good back up plan for bourbon.

I'd swap the Glenfiddich for a Yamazaki.

  • So that place doesn't stock Yamazaki. They do have a Suntory 12 ( $59 ), a Nikka 15 ( $109 ) and a white oak grain Akashi ( $34, not aged ). I know nothing about Japanese whiskey though

  • As in Suntory Yamazaki 12 yo? That's the one I was referring to.

  • Suntory’s Hakashu

  • Just scored a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail for Christmas, happy days!

  • Christmas ruined, let down on a delivery on Van Winkle.

    Anyone tried Booker's?

  • Hakashu 12 year is better than Glenfiddch. A lot better

  • ok good to know, I've swapped out the Glenfiddch for the Hakashu. Thanks!

  • No worries.

If I'm in SF next year I know where to visit!

    :)

  • Just got this... Too early to try?
