  • The pub by Borough Market/Monmouth is always open at odd times like opening at 4am for the traders. I wonder if they will be open for Christmas morning?

  • I've been looking at a few places around SE1, near London / Tower Bridge, trying to find one that is open before midday, although I have a feeling that they might be constrained by trading hours laws. Last year at the hotel, the manager did us a quiet favour with the beers. If anyone knows of a spot, you can PM me if you dont want to post up.

Ms.chris has been looking at a few choice routes... will try and post it up the day before in case there are any stragglers.

  • I'm not sure about times for family stuff but they are all into church so could have until 12ish to be back near home if they go to the 11ish mass.

  • We should totally check out Peter Pan cup in Hyde Park.

  • Yep, thats a contender for a stop !

  • ah yes, I'm sure a lot of us remember that very well! Christmas day starting off with a BANG!

  • I've only contacted four pubs so far, but they all open only at midday... must be a licensing thing.

  • Venue hunt...

I just recently took over the day-to-day running of Cycle PS in Battersea. You might know the Kennington branch if you've passed by or the Camberwell shop as the home of the current SE Drinks on a Tuesday?

We don't have draught but we do have a selection of craft beers, soft drinks and our coffee is really good.

There is no plan at all to open on Christmas Day but if it were something you'd be into, I'd gladly open the shop for you to have as a mid-ride stop-off or a finishing destination.

It's warm, cycle and child friendly and of course has a workshop if you find yourself in need on the day.

There's a big telly for whatever you should choose... if you've no preference, I tend to just have BBC6 on most of the day.

Lemme know if there's interest and I'll make it happen.

  • That sounds fantastic. I just got into work but I'll send you a PM later on about it.

  • Huzzah... all coming together nicely now... and weather looks really nice for tomorrow!

  • Any news on the route?

  • In previous years we've sort of navigated on the fly, it's part of the joy of having London to yourself. Perhaps you can aim to be at certain places at certain times rather than plan out a specific route?

Of course this is just a suggestion, it is DK's show so what he says goes.

  • Christine has two possible routes in mind, both taking in Serpentine swim, St Pauls photo op, and pit stop at Cycle PS, but yeah we will definitely play it by ear a bit, if its anything like last year the west end traffic will be built up somewhat quite early on, but I imagine we all really want to enjoy the roads car free as much as possible... @Shoosh are you going to be late?

  • Not going to be late, but as I'm coming from Very East London planning at which point in the route to abandon before you go too West/South. St. Paul's would be good!

  • You'll be pleased to know that Mrs Patterson is in the kitchen rustling up some sweet treats as I type. See you all tomorrow.

  • Shoosh I'm on a phone now and had a few beers, don't know how to copy and paste. Come ask us in the morning. But just head at whatever time you need to, even if we are a bit south west, the traffic is so light tomorrow it doesn't take long to get from one part of zone one to another...

  • Okies. Am all ready and setting my alarm nice and early to ensure I am not late. See you all after Santa has been.

  • Joining at the 11th Hour.

  • I should really be asleep by now...

  • Ok see you lot in a few hours.

  • Enjoy. Still tired so staying home.

  • arrggghh. i am standing outside of my home with the wrong fucking keys. stupid idiot that i am has locked myself out (and the two people with emergency keys are both away for xmas - thankfully one is only 20 mins away) so annoyed with myself. am all up and ready and raring to go only for this to happen. enjoy guys. xxxxx

  • ^ sorry to hear that
