Ah, they released another new version, hadn't realised it had made it here from the US already.
The older one was 4.5"

Just seen my first Vertu phone in the wild. It was ugly.

You mean shiny?

In an aspirational way?

Just got an S5 as an upgrade, wasn't due one until March but have been on sim only for a while and blagged one of their ballsack Friday deals, would've prefered a Z3 compact but they couldn't match some of the 3rd party website deals, probably better for when I inevitably start fucking around with the software anyway.

Seesmic is being retired and they're pushing users to HootSuite. Anyone use it?
Should I stick with Seesmic or update? -

Shiny new S5 to play with.

OnePlus One is on sale without invites... while stock lasts and will arrive before Christmas...
-
• #15510
and my dad, having said that he didn't want one, has now decided that he does, and they've sold out...
-
• #15511
To be honest, I don't think they had a lot of stock to begin with...
I still haven't gotten my invites... boo...

LG G3 just had the Lollipop update.
Hope it goes better than the Nexus 7 update a while ago.

OnePlus One can be ordered without an invite for today I think.
I just ordered one. It will be my first foray into Android but I have become fed up with my current iPhone 4 not S. All of the software expects a more powerful phone. Probably I could have just upgraded iPhones but I have too much built up rage to do that.

the link to order is the same: https://oneplus.net/one You just order the one you want (for now anyway)

Anyone had their hands on a Nexus 6 yet?

i have. from a functional / speed / animation / everything but size standpoint, there's not a lick of difference between it and a N5. In fact i think the N5 is a better looking piece of hardware.
The N5 may even be a bit snappier. I snuck in a factory reset on the store device N6 and rebooted it. My N5 felt smoother.
it would be fun to have as a second phone for when you've got a place to keep it (backpack, jacket), but it's way too big to be a primary phone especially for someone that rides bikes in jeans and a t shirt very often. it simply will not fit in a pair of normal jeans comfortably. It is massive.
pop into a store and check it out. you'll put it down after 1 minute and walk away.
I would love one as a toy.
I want to check out a Moto X.

Yeah, I figured... It looks way too big for my liking... I still love my N5, only thing I would change is maybe the screen as it's a bit worn around the keyboard area... No need to upgrade for quite a while I reckon...

A guy at work has an N6. It's fucking huge.
I literally cannot use it. My thumb isn't long enough to use the keyboard or reach the notification bar with one hand. Swiftkey compacts the keyboard and moves it closer, which makes that usable, but it looks shite compared to lollipop keyboard. It also looks retarded with the compacted keyboard.

Although what is interesting is that giffgaff are selling them as pay monthly, you can essentially buy a mobile on "credit" from giffgaff without a phone contract.

Got a Moto X (v2). Very nice. Recessed logo on the back gives a welcome extra smidge of grip.

You had any problems with the headphone jack? Mine seems to have worked loose and the connection is now temperamental...
-
• #15524
Fine so far. Using a right-angled jack so probably less likely to get snagged and less leverage.
-
• #15525
Mmm, I'm using a right angle jack too (albeit a fairly long one - Shure SE215) and its getting quite sketchy.
Probably going to have to pay for a repair myself, the cost of unlocking the bootloader!
