  • Does anyone know why these GIORDANA Womens FRC Bib Shorts are such a bargain? http://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/542193

    Hmmm, slightly awkward photo:

  • ha she really doesn't look comfortable...
(don't know anything about Giordana so can't help there)

  • Do anyone have any ideas of where to get a Roubaix winter tight without the padding to go over the normal one?

Can't find any for women with the exception of Rapha.

  • I should mention that we're looking for a reasonably priced one if it exist.

The men DHB Roubiax come with the choice of no padding, annoying (but not surprising), women doesn't.

  • don't think this is roubaix, but I have a pair and they're great and toasty warm:

  • @kati here you go.

    Cheer!

  • yeah the mention of rapha kind of put me on wrong tracks here. there's a discount at least !

  • Went online recently to plan a purchase for my girlfriend, Maddy, only to learn of the global outrage that is the lack of women's levis commuters. Is there anything out there that's women specific, waterproof (or genuinely water resistant) that could work for commuting and off the bike? Nothing at Howies, Rapha, etc. I see the vulpine women's cotton rain trousers...are they any good? How is the sizing on them? Should I just get men's commuters? Ta for any advice.

  • Ask her to check uniqlo demin legging, I and @kati have them, they may not be waterproof but really cheap and great for cycling.

  • the skinny cut Levis commuters are actually pretty good on women (can't remember the model no. but they only do straight and skinny I think). they are in no way waterproof.
rapha have just brought out womens jeans, they look ultra skinny.
someone on here was developing their own range of womens stuff, not sure how far that got... - stocked at BC and Mosquito http://www.velocitycyclewear.cc

  • The Levis Commuters are not very durable. I wore a pair out in 8 months, and didn't think I was particularly hard on them. I rode in them a bit, but not a lot and the knees wore out in next to no time.

  • Cheers peeps...amazed that something seemingly so basic is actually so out of reach. Will check the uniqlo's for sure...cheers ed & kati. I've got on really well with the levis commuter jeans...black 508 cut. Had the same pair for 2 years+. Wondering if this new 3x Dry stuff is going to be any better water wise, or if its same shit, different name. I bit the bullet and got some of the mission workshop 5 pockets. Not tested them in any harsh weather yet! Also got some of the new commuter 3x Drys and in my lab test the levis looked the best for water run off. Hopefully that'll last more than a few seconds. The missions have the schoeller nanosphere tech. If it isn't the dogs, i'm going to be peeved! Any other ladies options??

  • Velocity stuff looks good. All customers gave their £85 pants 5/5 stars. Too good to be true? They have the same tech as the missions. For about half the price. Rather gutted.

  • Only just caught this thread, how are the jeans 2 months in @fluff ?

Have been waiting for something like this for ages.

  • Bought some at the women's sale but the saddle mark showed up after only 10km.
Swapped them for a smaller size in case it was the problem, but again, showed up after only one ride.
They do look and fit great but they are not what I hoped in terms of 'abrasion-resistance'.

    On another note

I've had a H&M sportswear hoodie for 5 years and it is now really starting to fall appart so I would like to replace it. But it seems stupidly impossible to find one that will be as good - it seamed so basic at the time, had I know I would have bought 5.

I'm looking for big hood, higher collar, thumbholes and zipped. Black would be better. Merino is not vital but a bonus.
Do you know where to find something like this ?

  • Don't chrome do a merino hoodie? Icebreakers would probably have something too. Pricey though.

  • I also have two jackets for sale:
Showers Pass Portland Women's Club Pro Jacket. Small. https://www.showerspass.com/products/womens-club-pro-jacket
I think of it as a nicer high viz, and it's pretty waterproof. I just tend to get too hot in it. Has nice big pit zips and fairly relaxed cut.

North Face e-Vent jacket. Medium. Black.
Pretty bomb-proof and will keep you warm and dry in all weathers. Heavier fabric with mesh lining. Bit sorry to let this go but its a bit big for me.

Let me know if anyone's interested and I'll get some pics up.

  • Apologies for posting this in a second thread on the Ladies forum but spied a mention of the Chrome Storm Pasha waterproof on the previous pages.

I have one for sale over in the classifieds - brand new, bought for my partner but wrong size. Tried on once and never worn outside so as new. Still will Tags I think.

  • Regarding hoodies, I picked this up yesterday http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/womens/tops/womens-hoodies/womens-merino-hoodie-p11945.aspx?cl=GREY&utm_source=google&utm_medium=GoogleShopping&utm_campaign=googlebase&cr=1&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzb-kBRDe49qh9s75m-wBEiQATOxgwecGp0rlHAdgLfH4mPO4pUpm8fPgvaP9iCCxDU0fwXkaArDY8P8HAQ

I think it's a pretty good deal for 80% merino. the fabric was a bit stretchier than expected but I think it stood up well to the test of chasing you guys around regents yesterday. fits 90% of your criteria but I have the 8 and its a bit big/ loosely cut so you might have to find out if it fits you.

  • That looks so so cosy @blowfish Perhaps when it's washed it'll shrink a bit?

  • hi everyone. i'm sure you've discussed this topic many times before, but i'm looking for some durable tight black jeans that don't wear away at the bum after wearing for 3 months (as every other pair seem to do!). i've had a look for levis commuter but they dont seem to be listing the womens on their site. any tips would be much appreciated!

  • I have some regular tight fitting levis classed as their 'leggings' but def jeans.
Which are really comfy and super good for riding. Had dark blue and no wear yet. also they don't do that baggy knees thing. Recommend.
Otherwise, there are no alternatives that I know.. sooooo +1
