  • I know that beyond the top 5 or so lists are generally quite arbitrary, but I find them quite a good way to catch up with stuff I've missed. Here's mine:

    1. Peter Matthew Bauer - Liberation!
    2. Eternal Summers - The Drop Beneath
    3. Dum Dum Girls - Too True
    4. The Horrors - Luminous
    5. Todd Terje - It's Album Time
    6. Golden Retriever - Seer
    7. TOPS - Picture You Staring
    8. Warpaint - Warpaint
    9. Blank Realm - Grassed Inn
    10. The Juan Maclean - In a Dream
    11. Melted Toys - Melted Toys
    12. Honeyblood - Honeyblood
    13. Beverly - Careers
    14. Cymbals - The Age of Fracture
    15. Mark McGuire - Along the Way
    16. Ballet School - The Dew Lasts an Hour
    17. Ital - Endgame
    18. Moire - Shelter
    19. Actress - Ghettoville
    20. Mac Demarco - Salad Days
  • Can't remember the last year I listened to 20 new albums, never mind 20 I liked. Must be old.

  • Spotify + 200 working days per annum and I choose what we listen to

Just over 100 LPs on my long list, a couple of stinkers though (Allo Darlin)

  • I have hear only one of those (Honeyblood). Cheers CG,

    *streams

  • I was going to add Cate Le Bon - Mug Museum, but I see it was last year[/slowpoke]

  • @dancing james should catch up quickly starting the 2015 thread before someone steals the idea.

  • 1) Lone - Reality Testing
    2) Andy Stott - Faith in Strangers
    3) Flying Lotus - You're Dead
    4) Pye Corner Audio / Not Waving - Intercepts
    5) Clark - Clark
    6) Aphex Twin - Syro
    7) Polar Bear - In each and every one
    8 ) Thee Oh Sees - Drop
    9) Sleaford Mods - Divide and Exit
    10) Bob Mould - Beauty and Ruin

  • This year, in no particular order, I've really enjoyed these:

    Hookworms - The Hum
    Liars - Mess
Zackey Force Funk - Money Green Viper
    Flying Lotus - You're Dead
    Caribou - Our Love
    Goat - Commune
Automatic Tasty - The Rites of Wrong
    Eagulls - Eagulls
Skull Defekts - Dances in the Dreams of the Known Unknown
Broken Bells - After The Disco
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Revelation
    Swans - To Be Kind
Sleaford Mods - Divide & Exit
    Ty Segall - Manipulator
    Timber Timbre - Hot Dreams
The War on Drugs - Lost in the dream
    Cibo Matto - Hotel valentine

The new Neneh Cherry and the Scott Walker Sunn O))) - Scott O))) were both pretty good too and honorable mentions must go to Future Islands, Todd Terje (although it wasn't as good as I'd hoped) and Sharon Van Etten.

But, the top spot for me and a clear winner was Tobacco - Ultima II Massage.

  • Wild Beasts - Present Tense
    Caribou - Our Love
    Beck - Morning Phase

  • Cymbals - The Age of Fracture

Yaaay, my mate's in Cymbals, I really liked their album, so chuffed they're getting love.

I've been mostly listening to Taylor Swift and La Roux on repeat this year. And Charli XCX. And Tegan & Sara.

  • Caribou and Beck were excellent too.

  • Sam Smith
    Ed Sheeran

  • Muslimgauze ‎– Chasing The Shadow Of Bryn Jones 1983-1988

    Die Antwoord ‎– Donker Mag

Diplo– Random White Dude Be Everywhere

    Some of my faves

Only recently discovered Muslimgauze was from Manchester with some 113 album releases :/

  • Wow, Muslimgauze... My old man distributed some of his music online back in the day. The height of cool, obscure music for me when I was 12 years old... I see it's even on spotify nowadays :)

Souls of Mischief - There is only now
black milk - if there's a hell below
    Run the jewels 2
SBTRKT - wonder where we land

And then there's a new d'angelo album that I haven't listened to yet.

  • Muslimgauze might be my new favourite thing.

I have NO idea what kind of hole my head must have been in to have missed him for so long.

I've just had a look at how much his albums go for. Thank fuck for Spotify.

  • Kiasmos - Kiasmos
    SHXCXCHCXSH - Linear-S Decoded
    Sun Kil Moon - Benji
Copeland - Because i'm worth ot
    Gazelle Twin - Unflesh
    Pharmakon - Bestial Burden
Electric Wizard - Time to Die
Cambodian Space Project - Whisky Cambodia
    Sunn 0))) / Ulver - Terrestrials

Honourable mention - The Wytches - Annabel Dream Reader

  • Fourteen for 2014, very roughly in order of bpm:

    Otto A Totland – Pinô
    Grouper – Ruins
A Winged Victory For The Sullen - Atomos
    FKA twigs – LP1
    Claude Speeed – My Skeleton
    D’Angelo – Black Messiah
    YG – My Krazy Life
Francis Harris – Minutes Of Sleep
Andy Stott – Faith In Strangers
    Actress – Ghettoville
    Moiré – Shelter
    Kiasmos - Kiasmos
    Kangding Ray – Solens Arc
    Arca - Xen

Pinô is probably the most-played as it's such an easy listen (and I've had it all year), Xen knocked my socks off the most on first listen, and if I had to pick one favourite, I guess it has to be Ruins.

  • Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 2
Madlib and Freddie Gibbs - Pinata
    RATKING - So It Goes

  • Big luv for that Atomos record, totally forgot about it

  • There's a lot of things I haven't heard yet on this thread - I'm going to enjoy working through them!

  • Numbers 7 through 10 must have been terrible then:

    :)

  • Only one song caught my attention and has stuck since the tour used it for the credit highlights

    First aid kit- master pretender

  • Royal Blood - Royal Blood

  • Being reviewed on 6 music right now.
