  • Thanks for this. I guess some winter 25s might be required...

  • Eyup, does anybody know the widest largely available mudguard you can get for a reasonable price in the uk, talking about 60mm+ in width and 700c (29er) in size. Like the planet bike 29′′ cascadia fenders but without the shipping.

  • SKS Blumels 700c 65mm?

    You'll have to make your own mudflap though.

  • Cheers, Should have done better googling

  • Finally decided to scrap the Crud 2 mudguards as it finally got damaged, but the worst part was the constant rubbing on my tyres side which was really doing me head in! So I've decided to go for some PDW Full Metal Fenders. Looks really nice and definitely has a much better build quality towards it compared to the Crud. It is a little fiddly with 25mm tyres to install at the front but the rear was much more easier.

  • I am very impress you managed to fit that on a Canyon with 25mm even.

    You just need to move the bottom front closer to the wheel to bring more room on the top end of the mudguard.

  • Cheers Ed will give that a try. It is a little tight on the clearance with the durano plus, I would believe it wouldn't have been an issue with contiential tyres.

  • Think the narrow rims helped keep the tyres from rubbing against the side of the mudguard.

    A few more tinkering and you're sorted, they're the best looking mudguard I've seen for road performance bike.

  • Also Di2 cable inside the stays

  • Yeah, you want the larger gap on top/exit point for safety reasons too: twigs and such will get jammed more easily if the "tunnel" tapers as they travel 'round the tire.

  • Has anyone tried these ? http://practicalcycles.com/products/233331--dia-compe-ene-aluminium-700c-mudguard-set.aspx they appear to be the same as these -- variously measured as 35mm or 40mm-- http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/dia-compe-ene-mudguard-set-700c-40mm-prod32086/ -- Dia Compe's own website didn't really give any clues as to whether they came in different sizes or the difference was internal/external measurements.

  • Not tried them, but I would guess that a 28mm tire would be pushing it with a 35mm fender unless you you have loads of vertical space, like with a 27 to 700c conversion frame.

  • Sks Olympic fitted to the Domane winter bike
    It's a bit tight on the rear due to thr pivots on the 6800 rear brake ,last years calliper may give me another couple of mm & I need to make the slot on the front brake bracket a touch longer . But 25mm 4 season tyres on with no rubbing ! Just been out for a 60 mile ride through the new forest lanes .might also get a little more clearance with a slightly narrower rim
    & I don't like the bontrager race wheels
    I'm going for 32x32 ambrosio on ultegra or dura ace hubs probably ultegra as they are over 1/2 price cheaper & for winter

  • i'd like to get some mudguards on an old fuji track beater, can anyone tell me if sks raceblade long would be suitable for cheapish clip on full cover (thanks @IR) and where i can get them cos i can't find anyone online stocking them from a cursory search

  • Not sure whats happened with them, seem to have vanished everywhere. There was a recall with them in the past I wonder if its happened again?

  • They're sold out AFAIK, quite popular.

    @lucyh considering the beater, you can get away with full SKS Chromoplastic/Longboard with p-clip.

  • thanks dudes. bottom of the seatstay tubing is quite narrow, c.15/16mm, can i get away with using 19mm p clips and attaching further up if need be?

  • You should be able to, if your Fuji Track doesn't have a chainstay bridge (can't remember for the life of me), you can those light/reflector mount and make a quick adaptor;

  • Does anyone know where the PDW 30mm ones are in stock?

  • Jan/Feb 2015.

  • He defintely will have some unlike;

    I STOCKED UP ON THESE AND CLEARED THE UK WAREHOUSE. SO THOSE OTHER INTERNET CHARLATANS WHO WILL BE A FIVER CHEAPER HAVE NOT GOT ANYTHING TO SEND TO YOU.

    Winstanley, Velodrome Shop, Shiny Bikes, etc. to says the least.

  • yeah that was a bit odd

  • It make sense, our distro have no more PDW in 30mm (a handful left in 45mm), it's not unheard of that some online shop pretend to have them in stock, and then make you wait.

  • lets just hope he isnt lying then
