Regarding this, is it possible that you mix the upper race with the crown?

You've not mixed up the compression ring or upper race and the crown race?
When you have the parts in your hands you can definitely tell that I have not... but, for the sake of it, and because I was stuck, I tried to inverse them and it does not work either... I'll try again tonight.
