Shame that not all of them die. Some of them are well kept and became icons within their little miserable world. Breivik to name one.

But the problem is that they and their supporters see it as a win-win. Die and you're a martyr to the 'cause'; survive and you're an icon. It's very hard to negotiate with this kind of logic (if you can call it that).
