Don't dismiss all old lenses - some of them are VERY good
iirc Nikon mount isn't easily adaptable due to the film/sensor flange distance - but Nikon have produced some very good lenses over the years.

My f3.5 55m ais macro is fucking lovely. Amazing colours and sharp as you like. And it was £60.

Yes, apparently. Not Leica like maybe, but pretty fucking good.
They are usually on the heavy side / build like a tank, and handle like a dream.
I really enjoy shooting with those, even with very beat up ones like my 20 / 3.5...

I'm not sure what to do about a standard Nikon lens too, was looking at the 35mm 1.4 Sigma but it's six hundred notes.
I've got a really crap old 50mm at the minute but that's pretty pointless with the D800 I just got. Someone I know is using old manual lenses with his D810, are any of them that good?
