If it's any help, I've recently swapped my old af-s 85mm f1.8 to a new G 85mm f1.8. Loving it. Sharper and lighter. Can't say I've noticed if the focusing is slower or faster, but that maybe cause the 750 is great with the focus, though my old 700 was no slouch either.
