No, thread or pics but happy to answer any questions.
It's been my winter bike for a few years. First fixed, then 10sp, then dinglespeed (volcano climbing special-edition), now 650b (since Autumn 2013).

^^^ Surely that Trek articulated tandem ought to be in Rats/Frankenbikes?
[edit] Ah, I can see it's not articulated - not that it's any less franken for it!

Hmm, must be articulated to have 3 wheels on the road, else its a pure straight-liner 8-(
Also if it is rigid, junior had better learn how to fly or take a parachute when going over street bumps. -

It is articulated, headset work as a headset, and under it, is the pivot.

Some fantastic bikes in this thread; it's going to take me a fair while to look through the pages. Loving the do all machines.
Just finished tweaking my contribution, after years it has nearly morphed into what I didn't know I needed:

Given how the sidewall show the lining, I says he been running them at too low a pressure for a while.

That is simply lovely.
The rear guard need a spacer between the BB and mudguard to move it forward to allow more clearance on the rear.

Also, that yellow jack Taylor spotter found is just perfect.

Did you mean
The rear guard need a spacer between the BB and mudguard to move it backward to allow more clearance on the rear.
?

Well spotted! Thought I got away with that. I just upped the tyres to 28c and am struggling for clearance. It spins free but the little tyre noodles rattle on the guard.
Doesn't help that I hacksawed off the excess on the stays so have sod all adjustment...

Yup, good call.

The other option is that if you have a dremel on hand, take off both wheel, ensure bolt is nice and tight, then dremel the end of the bolt to allow a little more clearance.

I have never run mudguards on my tourers, feeling that they are one more thing to come loose and cause a problem. How effectively do they reduce chain wear relative to, say, regular cleaning?
-
• #8372
Might take it on a short run to see if it's temperamental... The potential walk home in the rain might teach me to be less hacksaw happy.

That's true, they can be a nightmare. If you're out for a few days, especially if you're camping, it's nice to avoid getting soaked and muddy.
I always laugh at a pair of raceblade close clearance mudguards that have been sat in a field near me for a few months. Some roadie must have just got the rage and lobbed them.

I embrace getting soaked and muddy, but always keep a change of clothes in my watertight panniers :)

What I would call "the pub clothes"
