Two (super young looking) policeman that I stopped for advice told me that my victorinox multitool that never leaves my bag breaks the law on the locking blade rule. I haven't removed it yet but guess I have to :-(
They were quite cool about it and as they walked away one of them winked, smiled and said "obviously you haven't got it in your bag right now have you"
"Thank you so much for you help". I replied.

Ay? I thought Victorinox pen knives were folders with no lock...
Only when the blade has to be released on the spine to fold is it illegal non?
As in if I stuff it in someone chest it will fold on my hand.

I've got this blade that I need to make a handle to:
it's 85mm long and 24mm wide.
I will be trying to do a sheath as well in a finnish inspired shape.
I'd like suggestions to the shape of the handle.
Something short, fat and contoured.
I'd like it to be specialized to a certain useful purpose, but I just don't know what...
Any ideas/references? -

It was £175 from the Japanese Knife Company on Baker Street. It's in the Aogami collection, paid a bit in hipster tax but the whole shopping experience and knowledge of the staff was great. http://www.japaneseknifecompany.com/aogami-collection
I've had two years with a cheap Sabatier santoku knowing full well if I ever pass that shop with the money to burn I won't be responsible for my actions. It will be used daily and cherished. And if my girlfriend asks it was £75.

Anyone got any suggestions for a decent set of not too pricey kitchen knives. Started my collection with a small Global. Should I stick with those or could I get better quality/ value?

I have two Global knives.
Long thin one has kink in blade from being dropped point downwards onto the floor (good job jumped out of the way). Short fatter one is one of my favourite kitchen knives, I can get a lovely edge on it, but there is a patch of what I can only describe as de-lamination on the fattest part of the blade right by the hilt. A big piece of metal came up like a blister and then flaked off, and it was all rusty inside. I scrubbed it with wire wool and continue to use the knife, but there is a discoloured "hole" in the blade about the size of a fingerprint, which makes me think that the quality of the steel isn't all that great. -

My every day chefs knife is a Sabatier style, high carbon 25cm, from Invisible Edge.
Awful website but fantastic knives.

They mainly deal in straight edge razors, which I use, but also do kitchen knives.

I've stopped using my posh Sabatiers... We've turned Japanese, I use a Nakiri for pretty much everything...
