  • Where to get cheap beer? Delivered. Bottles.
    Need 10 boxes or so.

  • I stupidly and drunkenly rode sideways into a kerb last night. It left a series of scratches down my Chinese carbons. The longest and deepest is shown.
Will it explode and kill me?

  • We have draughty old sash windows: where (online or real world) to purchase heavy blackout curtains at a reasonable price?

  • Probably not, it just looks like surface damage, as you appear to be brakless it won't judder under braking and chew up your brake blocks either.

    It might explode, though....

  • When you say "tange", is it like in tangerine or tan-gay?

  • Like Singe (French pronunciation).

  • "taouwnjhe"?

Thanks- i feel better informed now.

Saw your Talbot in projecs- immense!

  • Thanks Colin. That's reassuring.

  • Sainsbury advert has been on a lot today promoting "naturally reared" turkeys - what does this mean?

i.e. to me it sounds like greenwashing, but I remain open to the concept that these turkeys are happy souls who live in sylvan splendour.

  • I looked on the sainos website and they have a few turkeys: http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/get-ideas/christmas2014/turkeyguide-2014

Some of them are "free range" and some of them presumably are not, so I suppose "naturally reared" is a euphemism for "not battery turkeys".

According to this website the battery turkeys are fat and feeble and can't move much because their legs will collapse. They sound a bit like the avian version of hippy: http://www.hartstraditionalturkeys.co.uk/ourturkeys.html

  • I was thinking it probably means "not fed other turkeys", along with "turkeys may be kept 14 to a shoebox".

  • get your turkey here then > http://www.rachelsfarmshop.com/page13.htm < down the road from us and has very high husbandry standards

  • That second link does say something about being fed goats, so maybe the idea is that turkeys, in their natural habitat, are predatory pack animals like wolves or lions?

  • @Dammit I tried to find out by doing some searches but conflicting sources. One said they won't have antibiotics in the animal feed, another said they aren't caged but are in huge aircraft hanger sheds, another seemed to be free range minus antibiotics in feed, seems to be one of the phrases the industry hasn't been given a kicking about yet so shops use it liberally.

I'm guessing look at what the freedom foods mark entails and judge if the other turkey costs more/less and then hope that's what the price reflects.

I know already that we are having pork this year. Everything gets a bit silly around turkey at christmas and if you drink enough it all tastes the same as whatever you had been drinking.

  • When I was eating meat turkey always seemed pretty pointless to me, I thought chicken tasted way better.

  • Clockwise- I did have a Google but all the stuff I found seemed to pertain to America.

I'll not be purchasing a Turkey this year, but if I did it would be from a farm shop rather than Saino's etc, just wondered what this new designation actually means.

  • I will be having a vegetarian christmas this year which I think means trimmings and mince pies for every meal and every course.

Naturally as the trimmings and mince pies are the best bits, this year's Christmas is going to be the bestest ever, food-wise.

  • Cheers for the tip

  • I need to fly to Milan tomorrow - and it's proving tricky locating a direct flight.

    Who should I try?

  • ^ If money no object BA & the remains of Alitalia.

  • Presumably you've tried something like Skyscanner which collates different airlines?

The direct flights on there seem to be from Ryanair, Easyjet and BA, but I've no idea how far those 'Milan' airports actually are from Milan.

  • I'd like to fly into Malpensa as that's where my colleagues are landing.

All the usual suspects appear to be sold out.

  • Gah, Ryanair is sold out for Stansted-Bergamo
