Can anyone confirm 100% what this is Super Profile, A Saronni, A Mexico or what exactly? as I always thought it was a Mexico (because of the crimps in the Tubes) until I read the last 4 pages of this thread. Im now totally confused!!!
It has 2 crimps in the top & down tubes with crimps on the inside of the chain stays
If its not a Mexico then I've fitted the wrong Decals (DOH)https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8809a3ezwvb7p1m/AAD9bhL9pCP_PqdjyvcGIfg8a?dl=0

Thanks. I've just looked at the original photos of the frame when I purchased it, & before I restored it.
It came with the original paint & decals ( very tatty) & it had the Mexico Decal on the non drive side chain stay thats why I refitted the new one. Strange to say the least Unless it was restored previously? -

i think we had a conversation you and i on another forum regarding the miss appropriation of decals, can happen a lot
i read somewhere that 70 mexico's were lighter than the supers. supers being approx 2.2kg, so if a frame is below 1.9, it's probably a mexico -

Yeah we did. I think also we spoke about your twin down tube Alloy Colnago/Alan. I've just finished building up a RDV Colnago frame I purchased a few weeks ago. Its frame No 8.

don't want to pollute pat's fine restoration thread, got these high flange AVA wheels and wolber tubs, will dig an appropriately aged concor out the barn too - just to finish it off to meet your exacting eye for details ;)
mach2cd2 not correct i assume?

Beautiful bicycle, but my only question is Columbus SLX on a pre-1985 frame? Is this correct?

What's the biggest size tyre you can happily fit on the back of a C40? Any difference in rear clearance between earlier and later versions?

Just saw this, I have a 1996 edition (normal stays) and with a 23mm tyre you still have few mm left, so I'd say a 25mm will fit.

Some arsehole tried to steal my Colnago dream CX bike and has left a D-Lock shaped dent in the seat tube.
What could I put down there and expand (much like a steerer bung or something?) to bring the dent out? It's really making me sad and I'm never going to leave it locked up anywhere again :(

cuntish! no real advice from me, just condolences

i have a small contribution,
i some how ovalised a seat tube on my cinelli stratocaster, whilst trying to repair the frame, my machinist friend made a solid bar which was seat tubes internal diameter, and as was heavy, slid down tube , rounding it again, not sure if one is able to do this to aluminium though -

I shall show you all my 'Freuler' one of these days...

Same thing happened to my Cannodale Saeco many years ago top tube dented by thieves pulling on the lock.
Dents in steel tubing can be 'rolled' out by frame builders with gizmos for doing just that.
However Alu is a one time deformation thing i've been led to believe. 'correcting' it just makes the alloy even weaker.

Saarf, hello, this one is for you.
I have a Colnago Olympic Master competition art deco with a 'Freuler' (dropped) top tube which I suspect is from 1993.
Searching the web yields nothing definate regarding Colnago serial numbers however mine is 6F*** as stamped on the driveside rear drop-out.
Can you decode 1990s era 5 digit numbers?

Fignon Hello!
Wish I could help, but there is no formula apart from help at the factory in relation to serial numbers or codes,as yet i have not compiled any info regarding this, when you post pics of your steed, we may be able to arrive at an approximation of age, sorry

Ok, thanks.
When the gloom lifts i'll take it outside and take some photos.
@Sam
Are they 25c tyres? Doesn't look like much clearance up front. I take it the rear is just as tight?
