Which bit of London? It's a big place.
8k run today, decided to go exploring new bits of Putney Heath and enjoyed not knowing quite where I was. Lovely empty (of people) woodland round the back of Putney Vale cemetery.

Are there any sites that have archived reviews of decent running shoes from back when they looked good and weren't all godawful looking pieces of shit?
-
• #10107
Depends how far back you mean? Runners World has reviews back to 2003. (choose "all products" on the dropdown)

was extremely impressed with the stock variety and brands they do at run & become near victoria when i went for a talk by some ultra runner chap they were hosting. the staff seemed pretty friendly too (we were there after hours and they were all happy to still answer peoples questions about stock).

There's a difference. I wouldn't run in 99.9% of the stuff that appears in the trainers thread. You'd end up with fucked knees/ankles/whatever.

I go to Sports Direct for my footwear needs. They stock a huge range of shoes and when I look at the staff it makes me feel good about myself.

My local Sports Direct does actually stock a reasonable range of quality running trainers at discounted prices. Just not my preferred brand(s), and I'm not going to Sports Direct to get advice about which ones they do have which would be best for the type of running I do and my gait.

Just realised that I've run about 10 miles in the past month, and I'm intending to go out on Sunday and smash my 10k PB by over 3 minutes.
I'm thinking that this may be a touch unrealistic.

So a 5k this afternoon at race pace should see me alright, I guess?

Don't over-do it, a brisk walk* should cut it

Fuck it - doing spreadsheet training plans instead.
A Furman / Higdon mish-mash should do it.

those shoes remind me of every single tv show I ever watched in the 80's/early 90's perfectly.

• #10121
are you coming round with me?
-
• #10122
I intend for you to drag me round, only for me to finish 2 yards ahead of you.
If I even make it to the start, that is. Doing manflu at the moment.

Ran to 36 Chambers and a new pair of shoes this morning, so much better. "Just your nuts, laying on a dresser..."

My local shop here in Canterbury is pretty poor. Can anyone recommend somewhere in London with good customer service?
