  • In other news, I've just found a fantastic way to combine the klick-fix system onto a front rack, @jtrent90 might like this;

Look like I've found a way to stop my Carradice handlebar bag from sagging.

    More info here.

  • Nice! Slightly regretting selling my mini rack now...

  • Glad I still got mine, gonna be quite useful on the tourer.

  • That light is going to get covered in shit.

  • And the bag too.

    Need long mudguard.

  • No need to cold set rear dropouts, it's a steel frame, xt hubs went in without too much struggle. Cheers for advice on forks, will find a stockist locally (probably keep pedalling manchester) and have a look at forks.
Thought about a new genesis, but I'm kinda glad mine didn't sell, they don't seem to be doing the 853 anymore. Will alter and ride the shit out of it.
@andy_k that would be much appreciated.

  • No need to cold set rear dropouts, it's a steel frame.

Normally I do agree, but with a disc caliper, it be harder to push the wheel in while trying to align the rotor to the caliper.

  • Oh yeah. Good point.

  • If you end up going to Keep Pedalling, it's the mechanic there's bike :P

    They also stock Genesis now.

  • Cheers. Thought so. Going seeing Mr Rourke about frame on Sat mornin, he says it shouldn't be too much bother, just needs a quick look at the frame, and would set to 135mm as a matter of course.

  • Where you read that? Or is it from experience? Cheers.

    yes I have one

I have had 35c (32mm high) tires on with mudguards. A close fit but possible.

  • Ah. Now I remember your bike. Nice work. Cheers for the info.

  • Just spoke to the chaps at KP, suggested the 26" Dt fork is very tight for mudguard, but 700c fork @ 390mm should alter head angle by only 0.5°. Nothing too severe in that. Once Mr Rourke says wether he can do it or not, I'll give KP a ring and get one ordered. Cheers Andy

  • So it'll have a 71.5 head with A 45 rake fork = CdF geometry.

  • Cool. Cheers Professor Ed. That'll do nicely.

  • My functional bike - last year's Canyon Inflite Al 8.0. Now with 700x41 Surly Knard (front) and 700x35 Schwalbe Cx Comp (rear) though. Unfortunately I have no picture of that setup, because there is no enough light on these latitudes to take pictures with a cellphone's camera :(

  • ^Race Face Narrow Wide chainring?

  • ^yes. So far only 2 dropped chains - I must be more careful on steps ;)

  • Probably needs to move from Functional to Current Projects then.

    #sickburn

  • Reckon it might be worth shorten the chain a bit?

  • That's great that,

though that being said, the frame I use on the bag handles the sagging problem much better than the standard klickfix mount bolted to the back. Combining this with the internal stiffener it wont really sag at all.

  • Can't:

Too bad that shimano clutch deraileurs are not compatible with shimano brifters.

  • Yow! SRAM have a great clutch derailleur for their CX groupset, even their MTB work out cheaper and lighter to use with the CX shifters.

Shimano need to hurry up, perhaps a Gevenalle derailleur might do the trick?

  • can you buy the new Croix de Fer carbon fork without the frame?
