• Mmm... considering how bad a lot of big name bike companies are about warranty claims on frames (cough cough BIANCHI cough) Hong fu seem pretty good.

  • Also @jambon the bike looks mint

  • Thanks.

  • Looks great. What size is that?

  • These frames look great. But in need of a paint job and perhaps some kind of decals. Where in London is good for that?

  • regarding big brands, this thread on weightweenies is interesting:

While it contributes nothing to help resolve your issue, I will say that you're not alone. We dropped the Storck brand for this exact reason. We had an usually high percentage of warranty claims, and almost every single one of them was refused for one reason or another. These were claims that any other brand we carry would have replaced the frame, but Storck found a reason to deny almost all of them.

It's really frustrating when a company will not stand behind it's product.

As was already suggested, I'd get the cracked frame repaired, and then I'd begin replacing my > bikes with ones that weren't Storck.

  • love that hongfu a page back B-)

  • Also completely agree that there is no way planet x or similar companies are doing proper QC checks on these frames.

X-ray testing a random sample of all the frames they buy to check for manufacturing flaws? Like hell they are.

At best they have insurance policies in place such that if one of their frames does fall to pieces coming off the galibier they have insurance against getting sued.

  • Anyone point me in the direction for 50-60mm deep carbon disc wheels for my Boardman Cx please?
What width should I be looking at? These will be road use rims if that helps

  • FTR my mate that runs the same HongFu rims as me had decent enough service for a warranty claim. Not brilliant, but decent. Had a spoke pull through.

Personally I'd like some 60mm Nextie rims. Slightly more solid looking and a slightly better shape.

  • Can anyone who has purchased from Hong fu recently confirm where they paypal led the dorrah? The email I'm being provided with seems odd.

    @jambon ?

  • Cheers, it's a 56.

  • Yes it seems odd as the email address appears more like a personal account as opposed to a business one, but my goods turned up in good time. A reasonable concern I think though.

  • Anyone know of any carbon disc forks with mudguard mounts from China? Lynskey and Kinesis seem to do them but don't really want to drop 200 on my winter bike.

  • Right now on bbc1, Fake Britain, fake FSA bars

  • Right. Frames. Can someone recommend who to buy them from? Hong Fu?
I want a plastic cross frame and fork. (disc ready but able to run cantis).

  • Would sir like the moon on a stick too?

  • Only if it's readily available and there's no import tax.

  • Ah ha. I see what I did there.
Smuggling a new bike and new braking systems through the accounts is going to be more difficult.

  • I don't think anyone is making a dual braking system carbon frame though, it's either one or the other.

  • I've got a sort of clearance to acquire a new bike in 2015. I'd like to keep it simple and use some of the existing stuff I've got.
I was hoping to take all the bits off the pompino and put them on the new frame, if I can (as always) keep the cost low I'll be happy. Disc brakes might be nice though.
