Nope, I'm an Xbox man but very tempted by a PS4...especially with the new COD game

Oops, I did actually edit the original post and it posted it as two?
Do it! I have a voucher for 10% off through work if you want one?

I'll let you know on payday, I just went a bit mad on a watch for Vix so I'm definitely not able to splash on one this month!

• #305
Damn, think they're only valid for a few days.
10% off argos vouchers if anyone's interested?

Bit the bullet last week and bought some beard shampoo and oil from S&J.. so happy i did, it smells amazing! Also went for a haircut there yesterday contrary to what i was saying, they did a great job, not something i could do every few weeks however, too much. Not sure if you guys have seen but their prices are increasing after either 1 December or the new year, unfortunately i can't remember, it's a few quid all round pretty much.

Well the hipster tax there must be very heavy....
-
• #308
It really is, stupidly hipster
-
• #309
Thinking of that, I've never actually seen any hipsters in there. Ever. Mostly old money Norwich guys
-
• #310
There was pretty much the same, I think it's just beard and slick back is assigned to hipsters nowadays? Oh and fixies ;)
-
• #311
Ha, yeah probably
-
• #312
Or beard and shaved head if you're folically challenged like myself!
-
• #313
Shaved sides, shaved head? Close enough right?

Any recommendations for a decent set of backup lights? Got a cat eye on the back which is plenty bright, but i want something else just as a backup i can put on too, same with the front. Was thinking getting some of the knog strobes again but they're quite pricy for what they are.
- Relatively cheap
- Easy to remove
- Batteries included?
- Relatively cheap

Planet X?

I've just got some cateye ones that seem quite good, I haven't ride with them yet though (haven't rode the new bike at all yet!). They've replaced my Topeak ones. I've had the Topeak for about 4 years and the (included) battery on the front has only just run out, the back is still going. The Topeak aren't the brightest of lights but they're Easy to get on/off (rubber strap things like Knogs)
I think these are the Cateyes
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cateye-el135-omni-5-light-set/It seems as though they don't make the Topeaks anymore, here's the closest I could find. In black of course! (they have a different front light attachment to mine)

tempted by those aero 1.99 hobbies or the phaart ones, anyone had experience with them?
-
• #318
I have a couple of the Phaart ones and you can see they are cheaply made but both mine are still going after a few years and worth it imo. The 5 led is good. I would buy two of these instead of the cateye and pocket change.

Nice one mate. They're just to add on for extra visibility so i think they'll do the job!

York velodrome? ;) Other than that, there's museums, shopping places like the outlet place. If you were going to Leeds i'd be able to recommend some nice restaurants and stuff though!
-
• #322
Ah yes, sorry, I forgot you were from Leeds! Well, that's pretty good considering it's not your home city! I've found Your Bike Shed and Spring Espresso via some googling/tripadvisor, so will head to those for sustenance I think.

Been a few years since I last visited York so I accept no responsibility for places going downhill!
There was a bar called Pivo that does a wide range of Belgian / European beers if that's your thing.
The Shambles is always worth a visit and a couple of photos. As is the sign for "Whip Ma Whop Ma Gate".
York Minster is also good to have a wander round the outside.
I didn't think much of the Jorvik Viking centre. But would recommend the railway museum and the cold war bunker!
Off topic - am I supposed to get a notification when I'm tagged in posts?

I think it'll appear in "following"??

Thanks for the run down Chris. I went to the Jorvik Centre as a kid, so assuming nothing's new I won't bother this time. All your other recommendations are great though, even if you haven't been there for a while, so I'll see how much time we get and try and cram lots in.
