All Steel 11: Smiles and miles
Sunday 12th October
Meet at 3pm to ride at 3.30.This week, we'll be riding over bumpy bits, round interesting corners and up the odd bit of slope. Perhaps it will rain, but if it does, then that post ride beer, coke, or bag of crisps will taste all the better. Bring your lights along, as it may well get a little murky toward the end of the ride.
With the nights drawing in, this week's ride is all about the smiles. Riding with a bunch of friends, pushing and pulling one another along for 30 miles or so of Sunday evening fun in the [insert weather here]. It doesn't matter. It's still cycling!
And then we'll go to the pub. That's really all there is to it.
Meeting time: 3pm
Départ: 3.30pm -

Really short notice, but:
All Steel 12: The Winter Sessions
November 2nd, Meeting at 9.45am for a 10am start. This Sunday will be the first of our 'winter sessions'. They're mostly the same as the Summer rides, but will take place in the morning rather than the evening, to make the most of the light. Not too early mind. This is no chain gang! Speed and distance will be adapted to the tastes of all those who come along!
So wrap up warm, and meet outside the shop for a refreshing blast around some of our finest country lanes. By the time we get back, the coffee machine will be on, the cakes will be waiting, and glorious refreshment will be ours!
Meeting time: 9.45am
Départ: 10am -

I might knock out 20 miles tonight to test out the new brakes on my cx bike. If you've got a reasonable front light and fancy it just let me know.

From @jakjakjak - deets for this Sunday:
All Steel 14: Skies of steel
November 16th, Meeting at 9.45 for a 10am start.Last time out, we caught a bit of rain, took some wrong turns and crossed the line - the train line. Nobody caught a cold, and everyone went home with a smile on their face. There's something great about getting out in the weather, whatever that may be, so this Sunday we're doing it all over again.
The ride's distance and speed will be based on the tastes of the assembled riders. Anything could happen. But the ending will be the same. Coffee, bagel, cake at the Dandy horse. The only way to finish a ride.
Meeting time: 9.45am
Départ: 10am -

And again:
November 30th, Meeting at 9.45 for a 10am start.
OOH, It's cold out there! But it's sunny too. The air is crisp and delicious, and there's nothing quite like breathy winter mornings, cruising along on you bike and pretending you're part of a steam train.
This Sunday morning's ride will be all about the little lanes that wind their way between places. Open to everyone, we'll tailor the pace and distance to the riders that come along. Sunday morning adventure time. Then cake.
Meeting time: 9.45am
Départ: 10am -

Well I'm excited for tomorrow morning's ride. I've selected a fine array of muddy lanes for sunday morning adventure time. Come one, come all. It'll be fun.

Ha, I was 45 mins late anyway so that really wouldn't have helped. Should have turned back when I mentioned it to you but I never learn.
-
• #216
Ironically Francois got the punctures after reciting Lemond's words "it doesn't get any easier, you just get faster"...
Enjoyed the ride, more so when it was over - felt incredibly unfit yesterday but commuting by bike has begun now so hopefully riding more often should build my fitness up
-
• #217
Yeah, the stop certainly didn't help - I think there were tired legs all round by the end. Only one more this year though, so got to make the most of them!
-
• #218
I just desperately need to sort out some different bars on my bike, my shoulder cramps up horribly on a ride and theres no flat spot to rest my hands on if I'm not on the drops
tl:dr Track drops aren't for the road, hence the name!
-
• #220
Haha, it wasn't meant to sound quite as grumpy as that!!
-
• #221
I got a pair of road drops you can have mate? 26mm clamp, i dunno the width as we don't have a tape measure but you're welcome to have them, might be worth a shot
-
• #222
Yeah, some nice compact drops would remedy that. Deda RHM01 are the same shape as my Piega's, but for OS stems - under £15 from Wiggle atm.
-
• #224
Aha, old micro-shoulders over here probably isn't the best person to ask! I do know that Deda measure from outside to outside, whereas everyone else measures centre to centre, so I'd see how wide your track drops are at the bottom, and judge accordingly. I'd have thought you'd want the 46 though, just at a guess.

• #225
Haha, my 2nd row rugby shoulders aren't really made for the bars I've currently got that's for sure!
Going to pop into see Matt at the DH on Weds to try various options!
Ah gutted, no worries, Jack'll be back next week so normal service will resume.
We went south, if it's any consolation, so it's not as if we were just ahead round every corner!
