Might be just a loud few that give Parkrun a bad rep rather than it being a widely held view through club runners.
Anyone taking part is contributing to participation numbers, which the administrators love and tend to reward when it comes to funding for future stuff.
I've enjoyed the few I've done and would do more but for working Sat A.M. most weeks.

That's an impressive improvement, what sort of timescale are we talking from first to most recent?

Tough track session tonight. final run of this 'plan' to try and hit sub 45 mins.
https://www.mcmillanrunning.com/articlePages/article/39
goal was 3x 2miles at 7:00 min/mile pace.
was fucking tough but managed to hit the following paces which i'm pleased with
Repeat 1: 7:03 / 6:55
Repeat 2: 7:07 / 6:52
Repeat 3: 6:58 / 6:55finished with a 100m sprint and was done for by that point but quickly recovered for the cool down.
I need to run sub 7:14 to go under 45 minutes but am hoping to stick to my 7:00 pace goal and aim for a 43:30 but given my 10k is in greenwich park the hills might prove to be my undoing though I intend to attack the downhills and bank some time and then just try to power up the thankfully short uphill sections and hopefully not eat into my mile times too much.
either way my PB of 46:22 looks like it will be falling hopefully even if I do struggle with pace a bit.

Ran my first xc on sunday which was the Watford Joggers Autumn Challenge. 8k in 35:14, put me in 16th place out of 112. Pretty happy with that.
Missed training tonight because of a pain in the arch of my right foot, I think its my plantar fasciitis. Anyone had issues with that?

7 weeks.
29:44 @ 88.5kg on 24 Sep
29:27 @ 89.3kg on 29 Sep
29:23 @ 88.7kg on 6 Oct
28:54 @ 87.5kg on 8 Oct
28:01 @ 87.6kg on 27 Oct
27:51 @ 86.3kg on 10 Nov
27:12 @ 85.5kg on 17 Nov
27:10 @ 85.1kg on 19 NovHR avg and max has been fairly consistent throughout. Avg of 165-ish and max of 175-ish. Those are a bit away from my recent observed HR max (I've seen it hit 199bpm playing 5-a-side in the last week) so I'm sure I can go faster if I push it but I've got no experience of doing this when running at a steady rate.

Try some interval / fartlek work. Teaches you how to go faster, it is, quite frankly, more fun than just running, and you'll see much better gains in your cardio.
Mad gainz bro.

^^ & ^ try it under guidance. too much/too hard too soon = injury = back to square 1.
I'd continue with steady base miles until times plateau at least.

That's the plan, and the time will likely plateau once my weight is down; still want to lose at least another 10kg, probably 15kg. 70kg target probably be hit around June next year (this is why I want to target IM Wales in 2016 not 2015!) if it goes that low.
Just sorting out a few things so I can run (instead of cycling) to work on a Thursday (and then play 5-a-side in the evening), adding this new run means I can shift one or two of my Monday, Wednesday or weekend runs to a strength/tempo/interval run.

A minute and a half in 7 weeks is very good going.

if you are running on the south downs Southern do an all day ticket only available on the internet. it allows you to travel to one station, run to another and travel back.
I used to do east worthing, then run along the Downs to Amberley and Pulborough then get the train back when i was training for south downs marathon. It was a good run.
This one was this year: http://www.strava.com/activities/144944042

^ Was fun following that on Twitter. Awesome achievement considering 5 loo stops and Imodium were needed...
5k race tonight. My watch says 20:18. SO close to my targeted sub 20min, bloody headwind. But I still have another race to do this before 2014 ends. Still it's a PB by nearly a minute :)

MHSF later, as a forrin I've been up since silly o'clock already to make way down for it. Apparently we're wading thru the River Brent, fook knows what we'll find/catch.

Debut parkrun. A 26:51 5k according to Strava, official timing will probably be 27:00 (EDIT: 26:53 says the text). Saw no forumengers but did see Laid Back Rich (an Audaxer who recently did a 6 month RTW cycle on a recumbent).
Kept it easy on the first lap (it's rather busy in the first 1km) and pushed a bit harder on the second (HR max up to 181). Some sections were very boggy (but trail shoes definitely helped).
8.5/10, would run again.

I was going to run at Dulwich this morning, but we had the police coming over for an 8am appointment to discuss (the most recent) incident of a taxi driving into the Mrs, so couldn't.
However, the police didn't attend, as they forgot, so it was a total waste of time.
Although that said I did move the thermostat, so I suppose it wasn't a total write-off.

Was it you in the lfgss cap? Should have come over by was busy worrying about being massively over dressed!
(Was with an old school friend, didn5 want to weird him out by shouting DAS) -

Was it you in the lfgss cap?
Yep. Say hello (or DAS) next time. I'll probably do every other week or so as I've got to do my share of taking my daughter to ballet (how very SW London I know).

Thanks for replying to my text to let me know! No dalmations today anyway, 2 scotty dogs and a woolly sheeplike thing. 6/10, Dulwich dog owners need to try harder.
I thought this was interesting, I didn't realise there was an anti-parkrun movement! (clearly I'm not down with running politics...)
Personally I think parkrun is great and I wish I'd started doing them sooner - though I'm probably exactly the sort of runner (ie. a crap one) that "serious" runners think is dragging down the sport.
